It feels like one of the front discs is warped, but i changed them about 4 monthe ago. Going to have a look myself on sat/sun. Any ideas?

Did the wobble go away with the new rotors then come back?

sounds like warped rotors to me. Are they stock replacement rotors or other brand?

Any pulse through the brake pedal? I recently had some major shaking and decided to replace the front rotors - no fix. The rears were the cause and shaking the wheel and pedal.

Rebed your pads. Or get new rotors that aren't "warped".

Cliff notes: similar problem, turned out to be my stock steel wheels that caused it.

Well....I had a similar problem on my 99 L. Replaced pads and rotors, shaking came back in about 3 weeks. Turned them again, new pads, came back again.

After putting up with it for nearly a year, I went all out: new pads, new rotors, new calipers (front), new shoes in the rear, had the entire system bled. This fixed the problem, OR SO I THOUGHT! (I also happened to change to a new set of alloys prior to the brake work).

After about 1.5 years rolling on my new brakes and new wheels with no problems, I put my good ole' 15" steel wheels back on one winter and guess what? Within a month the shake was back!

I'm guessing the wheels must have been warped or something. They were definitely the problem, and caused a problem with the rotors/brakes. Even after switching back to the newer wheels I still had the shake until I got the rotors turned.

Don't know how you would go about checking this unless you already have a second set of wheels. Any good wheel shops around that can check them? Also, I'm not saying this is definitively the issue you're having, but sounds a lot like mine!

Good luck!

Other possibilities are uneven tyre wear, unbalanced wheels, worn shocks, worn steering joints, bad alignment, bent wheel(s) and/or incorrect tyre pressures. These are all likely to produce other symptoms, but might pass unnoticed.

Steering wobble came on about 3 weeks ago. Happens when brakes are hot or cold, tyre pressures are correct, wheels are ballanced, i dont know about any worn bushes though
This is what i've done:-

New after market discs and pads, 6 months ago.
New tyres on stock 15" steels, 8 months ago(tyres still like new)
Changed steering fluid, 8 months ago.
New off side rear wheel bearing, 1 month ago.

(Bloke at garage said he had to remove back plate and some sus linkages in order to remove wheel bearing. Could this have done something?)

I had the same problem on my wifes outback. I put on some aftermarket rotors from the autozone (us parts distributor) and they warped in about a month. I took them back under warranty and those warped in about the same time frame. Then I said enough and I shelled out for some Brembo crossdrilled rotors from summit racing and problem has been solved. It sounds like the rotors may have warped again, but it could be the problems that the others have listed.

Barring any mechanical problems like lost wheel weights or bad bearings, I'd rebed the pads before I started dumping more money on the problem. It's free...

Unless you checked the new discs for runout with a dial-gauge on fitting, I'll go with distorted discs, please.

Usually when Im driving highway speed and I have to brake, it feels like the front of the car wobbles a little, not really left to right, but more back and forth. Is this the same problem?
