Default Front to rear swap

I may be getting my hand on an upgraded set of rotors and calipers for the front (not Brembos but the WRX ones with Subaru written on them). Is it possible to take my stock front rotors and calipers and put them in the rear? Will that affect my handbrakes? I really don't know much about how our handbrakes work but I understand it's a drum mechanism.

You will lose the handbrake. The drums are integrated into the rear rotors.

Oh ok, thanks. I guess I'll leave the rear for now and see how the front upgrade works.

Just get some Legacy rotors and brackets for the rear if you want a mild upgrade.

I believe the model numbers and years are listed in the thread below.

You want big rear brakes?

Front and rear aren't swappable.

Braking performance = good brake bias.

Thermal performance = larger brakes.

Note that larger brakes does NOT translate to better braking performance and if the bias is thrown further off from neutral, it could even get worse. Know what you're putting on and KNOW how it affects brake bias.
