Should try and find out soon. Spots are really filling up fast.

Thanks,
Gary

I signed up. I'd rather lose the money than not have the opportunity to go b/c of spots filling up. I'll put in for the day off ASAP and just hope for the best. If I don't get it, I'll probably just get sick that day ;)

Gary, I'll hit you up about a tech inspection as the date gets closer.

Looks like this isn't going to happen for me. I'll be traveling on the following Sunday, too close to the planned track day. To those who are going, I'm sure you'll have fun and take plenty of pictures.

On a side note, I might do a day of karting at LeMans (located in Milpitas) the first or second weekend of June. I'll start a thread if anyone is interested.

^^ I've been staring at the lemans karting brochure sitting here on my desk... I'd love to go. Early June might be a problem for me though. Let me know if you ever plan to go some other time and I'll join ya.

I posted this on the related thread on the motorsports forum, but thought I'd try here also:

Partial noob with questions here ... I actually used to race SCCA showroom stock (wheel to wheel racing, not solo) at Sears Point, Portland, Laguna back in the '70's but haven't turned a wheel on the track since being an SCCA driver's school instructor at Sears (OK, Infineon) in 1980 or so. I trust myself to drive within the capabilities of the car, but back in those days brake fade and tire chunking (if using unshaved tires) were real issues. I have a stock FXT with nearly new Yokohama all-season tires in the OEM 215/60-16 size, not Geo's but nothing fancy either. Would they hold up to lapping T-hill in June? What pressures do people run?

I think that this track day is not really about how hard you can drive I think its going to be a get to know your car day. I think the tires will be fine (30 min sessions) and I run mike at about 38-40ish? however Im very hard on brakes and my brembo's will be on before I go to this day so Ill be ready..... come on out and have some fun.....

Gary, can you clarify what the 'no racing' rule implies?

The idea for "no racing" is to keep people such that they drive at their own pace and not to go at it like GT4 or Forza style in the game. Nobody is competing for anything. Nobody is going to get timed. We want people to enjoy themselves and learn. We know that at times, people like to go at it for a little bit, but that is not the idea for this event. Beginners will have limited passing zones for safety reasons. Definitely NO dive bombing. All the specific rules will explained by instructors and on the day of the event.

The idea for this event is to learn the dynamics of your car and to take what you learn on the track and apply it for the street. We absolutely do NOT condone street racing. We want people to understand their cars better on the track so in certain situations, you will be able to better handle your car in a safer manner. An event like this will definitely change the way you drive your car and make you a much more aware driver.

We want everyone to be able to go home in the car they went with on that day. So make sure that all the necessary maintenance is taken care of on your car like fluids. In June, it can reach up to 100+ degrees F.

Remember we are also having discounts on parts like pads and AP Racing brake kits for this event as well. Please PM me if you have questions.

Also, I will be out there as well in our track WRX so if any of you want rides, please let me know and I would be more than willing to let people sit with me. I am still trying to get our second track WRX out there as well.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Gary

Thanks, that's what I thought it meant. I had some douchebags pass me in a non-passing zone at the hyperdrive I attended at Infineon, and it scared the living crap out of me.

How hard is hard? Are you referring to the STI Brembo gold calipers?

Regards,
Gary

Yes for beginners we have very specific passing zones and point by will be required. For intermediate, there is passing everywhere but point by is required. Advanced is open passing with a courtesy point by on which side.

All of this will be explained on the day of the event. :)

Thanks,
Gary
