Default Dealer is replacing my Cat for free...

Hi guys,

I recently got used Forester, 2001 S model in perfect shape with 120k.
Anyway, I paid part of the payment with my CC, and I had the 2040 error crop up within the "limited" warranty on the car.

I know they throw those errors like candy during Halloween, still dealer said they will replace my cat - after I threatened to call the CC company and stop the payment on the portion of the payment.

Make story short, I know they - the dealer - were reluctant to do anything, and I do not want to get screwed in the process. So, before I hand my Forester over to them, what should I do and say? E.g. list of things they should double check with the new/aftermarket cat, what I should watch out for, and ask for which documentation?

Any help is appreciated.

JB

Edit:

Basically I want to know if:

1) I should tell them to replace the oxygen sensors as well, since they will be replacing the cat.
2) What should I keep my eye on with the Cat replacement.

I might want to add... that the above was my "noobie" post. And, well, the information bellow finally fixed it.

I have a suspicious there was nothing wrong with my cat in the first place, just weird subaru :-)

From the P0420 Thread.

The $5.00 Dollar Fix. So far this worked like a charm... this needs to be stickied somewhere, I have been troubled by the O2 P0420 Code for AGES...

Glad you got it sorted out. My friend with a brand new 2009 was getting codes thrown with his cat and he had to get his replaced last week too. I thought it was odd that something so new needed the cat replaced.
