Default Why people don't yield at roundabout

This happened when I heading out around 11:00am today. A Toyota Highlander with Illinois Licence plate did not yield before entering the roundabout. Why people don't yield at roundabout. The lady who drove on the Highlander didn't even look if there is car coming... This is not the first time I have problem with people turning right from this roundabout. Every time I driving on roundabout, I was stop a bit and looks if there is car coming from the left. I'm glad I'm a cautious and safe driver...... and that's why I know there is people like this, I mount a dashcam on my car. If there is an accident, I can hand the video to the police...

This looked familiar. Roundabouts are popping up here and there in metro Atlanta and north Georgia. The average driver has never seen one before and for whatever reason defaults on "just going for it" without looking or yielding. The blessing is that at least they go the right direction...

Good idea on the dash cam. That would have been all the evidence you could need if things had panned out differently.

Most North Americans don't know how to signal their way through roundabouts. Since they don't know how, or even that they should, they simply don't.

New Jersey still has a bunch of roundabouts, although over the past couple decades they've made a concerted effort to get rid of a lot of them. People from outside the area hardly ever encounter them so they get confused a lot.

Really, the main problem is that, when encountering an odd or unusual driving situation, people should slow down and observe. Instead, they're so used to being funneled through modern traffic systems like cattle they just go "Herp derp I don't see a traffic light...FULL SPEED AHEAD!"

We have been getting a few round-a-bouts up here I love the them, no maintenance like for a signal, hi throughput and no one has to stop if everyone does is right.

Unfortunately not enough education for a population that for the most part has never heard of them except for the scene in national lampoons European vacation.

On the other hand when some dirp in there ford extinction just plows into the round-a-bout and causes an accident, they are generally lower velocity, and not head on.

Americans + Roundabouts = DA FUQ?

(Being American, I can attest that I've witnessed that most Amercian's can't possibly understand this Witchcraft that is the "roundabout")

Add turn signals to the problem. I think I will open a turn signal repair shop. About 75 % of cars that I see at intersections appear to have defective signal units. I should make a mint!

1/4 of the people on the road in Colorado don't even use them to begin with. Forget Colorado, when I'm traveling it's no different.

From the video, you can see the driver speeding off when they notice what the honking was meant for. They reason someone was honking at them finally sank in and they realized they should have yielded.

I prefer cat shows in mandarin, or I can listen to my parents arguing in the back seat when I go to see them in NY

Plenty of rotaries here in MA, some are bad, with plenty of rude and bad drivers to go with them.

North of you in Cedar Falls, we have the opposite problem. Folks will come to a complete stop before entering the round-a-bout even when there are zero cars present.

You have to yield to the traffic already in the roundabout, how hard is that?
