I don't like when I see foresters 1 inch from the ground, these cars are known for their clearance! I guess if you want a street only car it's ok though. I think it defeats the purpose of an "off-road" vehicle though, I'd never do it to mine.

its a personal style really. every truck ive owned has been lowered. i think love the stance of a lowered mini truck or now in my new case a forester. its all just preference.
why do people do up vans? pointless to some but others love to do it. |

It serves its purpose to many on the forum in many different incarnations, and while marketing possibly gives you the impression that it is an off-road vehicle, I've always thought my non modded, non lowered nor raised Forester is only a CUV with great ground clearance.

Modification of any vehicle is to personalize it. If you want a sleeper wagon that can run to walmart, take the kids to school, and run an autocross on the weekends, then a lowered Forester is a great choice. I see that you obviously have a strong opinion on this, but it is just your opinion. As a seasoned gearhead that has played with lots of different kinds of cars, I can appreciate good work done to modify a car, even if it's not my personal style.
And, be careful what you say here; you may hurt some feelings expressing your opinion in such a strong way.

I suspect the majority of Forester owners rarely, if ever, go off road. Lowering does lower the center of gravity, so theoretically should improve handling. It also makes it easier for the pup to hop in the car. :)

The beauty of the Forester is that you can make it whatever you want it to be. Raise it to go offroad, or lower it to run the twisties alongside the STI's. What's the problem again?

Something that is designed on an Impreza chassis is not exactly an "off road" vehicle.
Some people want an impreza with a bunch more interior space.
