Bought used 18x7.5 WDM Enkei (performance) rims with >95% tread remaining on Falken Ziex ZE-912 tires from the pawn shop for only $260. Rims.
Old rims (A-tech Erasers/MB Weapons) will be used for Blizzaks once I get them.

-Has burnt out fog lights. Replace with sylvania silverstars.
-Also decided to replace headlight bulbs with sylvania silverstars. Headlight connectors were melted, from bad connection, and corroded. Bought new 9003 connectors at autoparts store and soldered them on.
-Removed head lights and did a quick buffing job.
-replaced front marking light bulbs in head lights with 194A LED amber bulbs.
-replaced license plate bulbs
-fixed non working heated seats. For some reason previous owner pulled the fuse. Removed switches and cleaned them out. Something seemed to have been spilled on them before.
-replaced cabin air filter. If you have not done this, DO IT!!!! Mine was full of dirt. I think I can throw seeds in it, water, and have something grow lol

Btw I just bought the car recently. So far only things I had to "fix"

Keep running the old girl hard. She likes it.

In other news, I picked up my new filler pipe and rear taillight assembly today. Will hopefully get the pipe installed tomorrow to stop the car reeking of fuel.

Booked an appointment with my subaru dealer to fix a timing belt instal by the used dealer that I bought the car from. An '06 Forester x with 160K. Dealer only threw on a timing belt onto the old idlers and tensioner (not cool).

Anyhow, I'm stuck putting $700 plus into a car that I thought was good to go.

Live and learn.

Jay

P.S. the Forester is worth it, I am smitten.

In regards to what I did today, I finally got it back after three weeks without it, to the day. I put a whole six miles on it driving it home, woo.

It looks better now than when I bought it. Pictures to come probably tomorrow, it's too dark to take a good photo.

Not really my Forester, but I got a rental as a 2013 Forester for the week, with 1067 miles on the odo. Brand, spanking new. Drove it from Columbus to Dayton, Ohio. I noticed subtle differences between the new and old engines. I like them both, but I miss my '09.

I do like the newer cargo liner. Although I've noticed the new stereo HU is actually worse than the previous years.

I usually beat the snot out of rental cars, but having a Forester forces me to be respectful.

Who cares if it doesn't prove anything - it gets you more in touch with the vehicle, finding your limits and the cars.

Oh, and you learn how to correct things like oversteer, and how to corner quickly without inducing understeer or oversteer (unless you want too)

I started doing Motorkhanas (short 50-200m runs around cones in the correct direction) when I was 12, and did 6 events a year till I was around 18yrs old (when I moved out of home, and no longer had a car)

I can credit Motorkhanas with saving my life on the roads at least once, and reducing what could have been vehicle damage incidents, to just soiled undies on a few other occasions

Oh and today I drove my Forester in the rain, reinforcing my love for the beast.

My sentiments exactly. Learning to drive in the snow, and having spent many hours horsing around in it, improves your senses and hones your reactions. The time I have spent playing has most certainly saved my life if not others through the course of some close calls on the streets over the years.

A lot depends on the region. if you happen to be in the snowbelt, there's a lot of Foresters. I've seen National and Hertz have them. I'm renting with Hertz this week.
