I went hunting for a fuel leak today and I think I found it. I fueled up on the way home and discovered gasoline glistening on the lowest part of the filler neck when I checked underneath. Upon further inspection I found that there are several spots of very severe metal rot. I ordered a replacement neck along with some hardware and new right, rear taillight assembly (the turn signal still has moisture in it even after I resealed the whole thing). I also found that the muffler shop stripped the weld nut on the transmission brace when they put in the new front pipe. That would explain why the rear cat was knocking on the undercarriage. A slightly thinner bolt, nut, and lock washer solved that.

Thought about washing it. Way too cold for that. Had a cup of tea instead.

Finally heard back from the body shop. They have almost all the parts in, should be another day or two at most, and then I should have it back by the middle of next week. Maybe.
I can't wait.

All that at 30k? Holy crap O.o
I did front and rear diff oil today, and flushed the coolant for water. Re-flushing with coolant tomorrow, and installing my new injector. Hopefully all will be smooth sailing from there. |

Well, I messed up...read the warranty and maintenance booklet wrong...the plug change is at 52.5K according to Subaru. I am still going to look at the dealership and see about their price as $700 from my usual independant shop [my shrine/holy land] is charging too much!
Cheers and thanks for the info on the 30k service, all!

We have an empty parcel of land by our subdivision (remainder of the unbuilt land, result of the housing market crash), so I took my son on an off-road drive. He thought it was neat to be able to cut from a paved street directly into mud and short bushes. He's three, strapped into the child seat, getting bounced around, and having a great time!
When we finally hopped off the dirt lot, his response was "that's it? no more? awww." |

Installed the Grimmspeed MC brace and Lamin X yellow fog light covers, very happy with both.
