Got a little vacuum cleaner that plugs into the cigarette lighter sockets. It's a Black and Decker FHV1200 and has a nice long hose plus brush and crevice tool. Pretty neat device for what it is, and for a small unit it has good suction power- it sucks those clingy grass clippings right out of carpet, and it sucks up fairly big pieces of mud as well.

Today I had my BFGoodrich Eagle Gt tires swapped out for my set of Bridgestone Blizzak tires. Now I'm set for winter.

Picked up a busted 2.5 long block. Now my Foz is stinky from the motor in the back. But, more parts and pieces for my head gasket rebuild.

Now I just need some wrinkle red and a few hours in the wife's oven.

Default Last Saturday....

I should've posted here last week when I swapped out my TD04 for a VF39 and FMS TMIC. It was actually a step back from where I was with the TD04, because I had modified the Cobb map and was hitting 14 to 15psi easily, then with the Cobb VF39 map I was only hitting 13 to 14psi and it was coming on later. So THIS Saturday I installed a Grimmspeed EBCS and loaded a preliminary map from Tuning Alliance. I was still only hitting around 13psi with the preliminary map, but now I'm on the second revision and I'm easily hitting 18 and dipping into 19/20 from time to time. It's only going to get better:) Mike from Tuning Alliance sent me another revision a few hours ago, and I'm definitely looking forward to flashing it and seeing where I'm at now. Tuning Alliance was recommended to me by a buddy who had his Outback XT tuned by them. So far, I'm definitely pleased and would recommend them and the eTune process to others.

I also got my windows tinted last Friday. 20% all around. I think it looks great! Very pleased :)

Converted to winter mode last night.
Great timing since it was snowing on the drive into work this morning.

Preparing for winter. Sunday-Monday were unseasonably warm so I took the opportunity to wash and wax for one last time before winter. Had to turn on the water to my garage faucet again, and turn it off again afterward. Then I wiped down all the windows with Invisible Glass with Rain Repellant.

Winter tires are on. Shopping around for some way to cover the exposed axle nuts.

Painted a license plate frame black and replaced my old frame in front.
Threw the snowbrush in back as we had our first small fall last night. Just a dusting but have to be prepared. Filled the washer fluid with cold weather fluid.

Having a Forester problem isnt worth the cost of buying a membership to display them.

Finished up the valve cover gaskets, this time including the one leaky half-moon. Hopefully this has done the trick - Guess I'll know after the 700 mile road trip this weekend!

Also making progress on diagnosing the phantom misfire.

The best skid plates (IMHO) come from Tigard, OR. Not a coincidence that is also the home of Primitive Enterprises, whose owner Paul Eklund does professional rally driving to test these parts before manufacturing them.
