Thought it would be fun to start a thread on everyday things we do here and there to our beloved Subarus. The weather is getting nicer, so I'm sure we will all be outside more tinkering on our cars.

Today has been a busy day for me! Got my Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 tires in yesterday from Tirerack for the Sti and had them mounted and balanced today by a real cool guy off of Nasioc. If anyone wants his info in the PNW PM me. He runs a legit business out of his home doing tire stuff n such, for a really good deal. But let me tell ya, these tires are STICKY!!! They pick up gravel everywhere but they are SOOOoo nice! It feels like a different car
When I got back from joyriding the STi in it's new tires, I washed the Forester (for the second time this week) and finally got around to hand waxing it. Looks pretty, but boy is there a lot of bumps and bruises on it!
What did you guys do to the subarus today??
Nothing exciting. Changed both diff fluid for the first time ever at 40k. Fluid wasn't as bad looking as I thought it would be. Very dark brown. Topped off everything else.
Next up is a trans drain and fill since I can now buy it local.
put in an upgraded harness for h4 bulbs and threw in 100/130w hella yellowstars!! bright but not obnoxiously so on low beam, but the high beam creates day from night and so far no electrical fires!
its pretty easy, unless you do it at night in your apartments parking lot like i did :chair:, i just picked up this harness and plugged it all in. hardest part was finding grounds to grab onto
I had some adhesive backed velcro to hold a ScanGaugeII on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. The weather turned very warm, the aghesive flowed and made a mess.
Used 'Goo Gone' orange citrus to remove the adhesive.
With 21,522 miles on the odometer, I changed the gear oil in the transaxle (MT + front diff). Out went the Mobil Delvac (felt rather thick last winter), and in went Red Line 75W-90 NS. So far, the shifter feels pretty good!
I put gas in it. Did get the oil changed last Thursday. I do that every 8-12K miles somewhat religously whether it needs it or not. 197K miles, I guess next time I change it will be over 200K.
Despite my right arm still not being fully recovered from a Type I shoulder separation (mountain biking fall at 25MPH), I started the Forester's overhaul today. I can't manipulate things with my right arm very hard, and I'm right handed, but I still got this far:
Wow it's been awhile. This past week I installed stainless brake lines (Goodridge lines from Ebay), and Whiteline front and rear strut tower braces. Last month, the KNS brake package was installed. I am happy to report that the brake lines and the strut braces made a significant difference in the way the car brakes and turns. I'm very pleased.
I got the safety and IM done today. It actually passed!
