I prefer white, but I live in a hot climate where the lighter color makes a big difference in July and August. The silver will be more forgiving for hiding dirt between washings. In my mind it is 6 of one, half dozen of the other.
And welcome to the forum.

I figure a couple contacts with a bike chain and the interior would have gross stains for the next 20 years. The red shows dirt more than the silver would have, but it's a nice red... No idea what the interior color/exterior color combos are in Canada, but I'd want the light interior only if I was one of those people who has white carpeting in their house that somehow stays clean... Great vehicle, George |

I've had 3 white cars and have a sage green '09. Had a white '09 been available when I needed to buy, I'd have a white Forester today. Given a choice [that does not exist with the '09 models], I would rather have a non-pearlescent white. I just told someone last night that my next Subaru will be white.

White is an easier color to match up for scratches dents etc and any repairs to a Silver car will always be able to be detected because of the way in which the light reflected from the paint.
A paintless dent removal guy (long time in the panel beating game as well) who took some door dings out of my current Forester last year, told me it doesn't matter how long and meticulous he is with the dent removal you can always detect the repaired area. I've had Gunmetal Grey - Yellow - Summer Gold - White - Blue Ice - Red Mica colored cars over the years and the worst to keep sparkling clean was the Subaru Red Mica and the easiest was the Whites and I lived in the coastal tropics where there was mud and dust in periods 3mths & 9mths respectively, yes! it can be dusty in the coastal tropics believe it or not. White everytime for me when possible, boring I know but much easier to maintain all round.

...but the Forester's white in the US is only a pearl white, with the light gray/beige interior. I purposely got my 2002 Ford van (still have that) in white, and my wife's last two cars have been white--again on purpose. A tree branch fell on her '98 Sable and about half the body had to be repainted--and NO match problems.
And although a white car is going to show more dirt than a silver, or even better a plantinum (warm silver) color like my old '98 Acura TL, it is still not bad at all. I wish the Forester had been available in a straight, non-metallic white with the black interior--I'd have bought one of those instead of the metallic Camellia red...which is nice, but shows dirt. I was down to the spark silver with black, but the dealer was only able to find the red/black combo, so I took that. George |

I have an 09 Pearl White in South Florida, (30 minutes from Key Largo) the white makes a difference in interior temp in 100 degree weather. Also the white is the best looking of the colors ive seen. I will polish and wax it tomorow, I'm expecting a beautifull look.

well the dealer said he could only get me a 09 Limited Forester within 2-3 weeks in the Steel Silver so i think I am going to go with that instead of waiting longer for the Satin White. I like both colors so the Steel Silver hopefully will look good on the 09 as i bought it without seeing the color!
