Keyless remote - no lights flash

I have a US MY05 XT with 4EAT. The keyless remote no longer flashes the turn signals when locking or unlocking the car.

I recently replaced the battery, which I suspect is the reason for the changed behavior. How do you program the thing to again flash the signals? I know how to disable & enable the horn signal, but not the lights.

unlock the car, then press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time. You can cycle thru 3 or 4 different options. Light flash only, light flash and chirp or nothing at all. Sometimes it takes a few tried before you get the lights to react but it does work.

Thanks for this info. With it I was able to get my keyless to either chirp or not chirp. I was not however able to get blinking lights with or without a chirp. I've got an 05 X so I thought I would be able to get lights and chirp which is what I'd like.

I did buy the car without the alarm, but added the factory alarm myself after the fact.

Is there something else that I need to do? I must have tried 20 times. When I unlock the car and then hold the unlock and lock buttons I first get a single chirp and a flashing parking light, if I do it again I get two chirps and two flashing lights. But I can only cycle between the two. I think once flash and one chirp meant nothing would happen when I used the keyless. Two chirps and two flashes meant that I would get a chirp when using they keyless.

What am I doing wrong? I can't find any info in the owners or service manuals either.

o, man. i always thought there were only two options -- either beep (no lights), or lights (no beep). never knew you could have both at the same time.

Hmm, I can't get lights at all! The only way I get a light is if I press the lock button three times in a row. Then I get lights and a short horn.

I can't get lights at all right now. I would most like to have lights and chip. If I can't have that then I'd like just lights. Right now I have just a chirp instead of nothing which I guess is better then where I was before ;)

One other thing. I do have "auto arm" turned on... I wounder if this could affect the chirps and lights. I like auto arm because this car has all my work tools in it and if I ever forget to arm the car myself I know that it will do it for me.

Read the manual, sounds like you're in Valet mode.

If the remote transmitter is used to lock or unlock
the doors while the valet mode is selected, the
turn signal lights do not flash but an electronic
chirp is emitted.

Weird, it was in valet mode. I used to have one of the ****ty tear drop fobs and I bet unlock was depressed on it with the door open when I breathed on the fob It's funny too... the "security" light in the dash started flashing a while ago and I thought to myself, "I never realized that I had a flashing security light before." So I guess that I haven't had an active alarm for months.

Why on earth would anyone want a valet mode in a vehicle that doesn't have a separate locking truck compartment?

Anyway, thanks again for all the help. I now have blinking lights and a chirp

That's what it was for me as well.

Just for the record, since nobody here mentioned it:

To activate/deactivate valet mode, open the driver's door and press the unlock button for at least two seconds. You'll get your flashing lights back when locking and unlocking via the remote. More important, perhaps, is to recognize that when the lights don't flash, you're in Valet mode and that you're only locking the doors, not arming the alarm system.

The valet key normally doesn't have a remote fob, so I believe that if you (or the valet) were to arm the system, then someone with the just valet key would have no way to disarm it. And anyone opening the door with the valet key would set off the alarm and have no way of stopping it.

What about that $950.00 SLR digital camera you left in the locked glove box? Valet mode IS there for a reason.
