71 Austin Mini
73 Renault 12
76 Ford Escort MkII
82 Datsun Sunny
86 Vauxhall Nova (saloon in brown!)
92 Renault 21 Savanah
97 Rover 416
96 Citroen Xantia
98 Mitsubishi Galant
01 Mercedes CLX
03 Audi A4
04 FXT

Dates show year registered rather than the year I aquired them

Favourite? Has to be the Renault 12, its a strong contender for the ugliest car ever made, was by far the least reliable I ever owned and came in a truely insipid shade of eggshell blue.
But it was the car I had as a student, so went to a lot of places in it (usually on a wing and a prayer, without the backup of either mobile phone or cash) and was the one I did more than a few 'things' in.

Ahhh, my lost youth

Cool BMW 325e takes it

In order of when I bought them.

63 Lincoln Continental with Suicide doors and Leather. My very first car.
66 VW Beetle. Took it apart many times.
73 BMW Bavaria. Fast for a sedan.
85 BMW 325e. Good solid car. My First new car. Still have it. Gets 28mpg and has 220K mi on it.
79 VW Rabbit (Golf) Diesel Got 53+ mpg Drove everywhere in it for nothing.
87 Jeep Commanchee Pickup. Workhorse
62 Mercedes 190D with fins. Just for fun. 36 mpg!
87 Honda Civic
93 Dodge Caravan
66 GMC 3/4 ton Pickup
02 Dodge Caravan
03 Subaru Forester

I would have to say the BMW 325e takes it. It was my first brand new car (Red) and I ordered it with everything I wanted in it. It is now at the end of its usefull life and ready for retirement, but it still gets 28 mpg or better, and has 220,000 miles on it.

If the Subaru is as reliable as the BMW then it will become my favorite. Subaru has the reputation.

54 Austin A40 Somerset - Bench seat & column change - good for dating.
Ford Popular E93A
Ford Specials - (2) - forget the make
Ford Anglia - 100E - 1st modded car - side valve with Aquaplane 4 branch & quick shift (on a car with 3 forward gears)
60's Minivan - Lowered
(Then a Royal Enfield 250 & Triumph 500)
Sunbeam Alpine Series IV - Twin choke weber & hotter cam - Revolution wheels
Alfa Romeo 1300 GT Junior
Alfa Romeo 1600 GT Junior - Part restored it & then sold it to an Alfa Club racer
Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV - My all time favourite, despite the rust - Twin cam all alloy engine - Gearbox / rear Diff in one alloy unit unit for better weight distribution - inboard rear discs.
Hillman Imp - more like an instruction course for would-be mechanics
Renault 5 GTX
Volkswagen 411 Saloon - Bright orange & a pig to work on enginewise
Volkswagen Scirocco GTX
Mercedes 220 Saloon
Ford Mondeo V6 24V
Alfa Romeo 156 V6 - Great car, totally reliable but the compromised ride on undulating surfaces made little children sick over the leather seats.
'01 Porsche Boxster 2.7
Current drives:
Mrs Forestier
'04 Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0 with Multitronic - CVT Transmission is brilliant - cool looks
Me:
'05 Forester 2.0 XT - Could end up as the best yet but too soon to decide.

My best Renault 12 story (not my car, BTW): A couple of years ago I had occasion to free a jammed Renault 12 piston with a 2x2 and a large hammer after someone ran the poor thing out of water, realised it, and continued to drive until it died. It took some hammering but I eventually got the piston moving, and after planing the head the car carried right on. "Please abuse me!"

And FWIW I wouldn't call it "ugly" so much as "dated".

Ford Prefect (mid 60's vintage)
Ford Zodiac (late 60's)
Fiat 128 (1970's)
Fiat 128S (1970's)
Ford Escort Mk1
Polski Fiat
Audi Avant
Vauxhall Astra Mk2
Vauxhall Cavalier SLi
Ford Sierra XR4x4
Mazda MX3 (JDM)
Subaru Impreza (JDM)
Subaru Impreza (JDM)
Subaru Forester.

My defence is the Cavalier was a company car.
Still bit of a pattern developing here. And I have driven a number of other vehicles including Transits, American RV (in Canada), a Ferrari Testarossa, a Formula Ford single seat racer and a Peugeot 307 SW(diesel from Calais to Nice in one day!!!)

Favourite - my first Impreza - first time I floored it I thought *********. And the first time I tried to stop from speed quickly I thought double *********

I think I've owned a lot considering I'm only 23.....

In order:
'90 Chevy 1500 - Sold
'98 Ford Contour SVT - wrecked
'82 Suzuki GS750 - sold
'98 Suzuki TL1000R - wrecked
'00 Ford Ranger XLT - sold
'98 Chevy Blazer - sold
'00 Nissan Sentra GXE (blue) - Still have/wifes car
'00 Nissan Sentra GXE (white) - sold to my sister
'00 Subaru Forester L - Still have

Most memerable would have to be the SVT. I dumped a lot of mods into that car, and had loads of fun in it. I'd buy another one in a heart beat if I could.

You should cross this question with age.

That (or cars cross-corelated with driving years) would be interesting but how would you do that without a two dimensional polling grid? A single scale for cars per years of driving? (Or vice versa.) That division might be too much work for some people.

I'm a bit disappointed that more memories aren't coming out with the long lists of cars. Maybe people who have had that many cars haven't owned them for long enough to have any fond memories of them?
