Default Forester Recall- Airbag Wiring Issue

Subaru is recalling 7,004 MY 2006 Forester and Impreza vehicles. The wiring harness for the air bag occupant detection system in the front passenger seat may have been pinched during production. Pinching of the wiring harness between the floor crossmember and the seat mounting bracket could result in an electrical short in the passenger's front air bag. This could cause the air bag to become disabled and may not deploy in the event of a crash increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Also an electrical short circuit could cause a fire. Dealers will inspect to see if the wiring had been incorrectly routed under the seat bracket. If so, the dealer will repair any damaged wiring, reroute and secure the wiring harness in the correct location, and re-calibrate the occupant detection system as necessary. The recall is expected to begin on or about March 5, 2007. 07V-043

You all beat me to it bigtime. Serves me right for not being here lately but job situation and moving is taking its toll.

Don't feel too bad... I didn't catch it the first time around either!

Hmm, I didn't see it until now, either.

Maybe we should rename the section "DIY, How-To, Recalls & TSB's"

Then we could have a stick for all the recalls? Maybe? Just an idea.

Or maybe split it in two to have "DIY and How-To" and "Recalls & TSB's".

Cool

I just had the recall done on my 06 XT.......all that was needed was an inspection......the wiring harness was fine.

Isn't there usually a notification by mail for the owners of the affected vehicles? I thought that was common procedure with recalls...

I think there was supposed to be a letter sent to owners of affected vehicles. I never recieved one for either of my '06's.
