2009 Calendar Casting Call!

Yep, it's that time of the year again… Soon we’ll be putting together another calendar featuring the cream of the crop of our members’ rides! This might be the time to get out and do that photoshoot that you’ve been thinking about, or to start digging through your photo library to find the most awesome photographic masterpieces of your car and submit them to us. Once our admin panel selects the 13 finalists, we will have a vote among all members to determine the winner for the coveted cover shot of the calendar. Think of it as the "FOTY" (Forester of the Year) competition.

Theme:
The official theme for the 2009 subaruforester.org calendar is:

Forester - The Vehicle for All Seasons

We want you to be ALL OVER THIS!! We are looking for well composed shots featuring the Forester surrounded by the seasons - spring, summer, fall, and of course winter.

Here are some helpful observations from past years:

Make the shot as HIGH QUALITY as your camera equipment will allow. We have an FTP site where we can accept whatever file size pictures you can send, so don't be bashful with the Megapixels.
Make sure that the Forester is large enough in the scale of the photo. If it's taking up less than 10% of the total "surface area" of the picture, then get CLOSER!! Make sure not to take it to the extreme, however. If it takes more than 80% of the total "surface area", we might not have the ability to crop it to the proper dimensions.
Composition is important too. Don't "hide" the Forester - especially since it's the focus of the photograph. We know it's artistic and all, but we want to see the car, not the objects in front of it.
Lighting is EXTREMELY important. Harsh glare and harsh shadows are NOT good. We like a little reflection, which enhances the lines of the car, but if the lines of the car are washed out, that's not so good. Last year there were some photographs we simply LOVED, but which had the fatal flaw of glare on the windshield or other surfaces which simply obliterated those parts of the car.

Requirements:
Any picture of your personal vehicle (or your spouse's) is eligible, as long as it is a Forester… any body style, any model year, any engine. Multiple entries are allowed - you may submit up to 5 images. Of course by submitting them to us you are giving us permission to use your photos in the calendar.

The pictures must be in .jpg or .TIF format, with a minimum image size of 1800 x 2300 pixels at 200 ppi (pixels per inch), in landscape format. We will resize and crop as needed, so no worries about pictures being too large.

Winners:
The 12 monthly calendar selections will receive a subaruforester.org silhouette sticker. The picture selected for the cover will receive a free calendar and the associated bragging rights for being a “cover girl”.

In addition, all winners will get a custom title to display under their user ID.

How to submit your entries:
Please upload your photos here:

In order for your entries to be considered, they must have the following filename format:
<username>entry<#>.jpg

In addition, feel free to also attach a smaller version of the picture(s) you’re submitting in this thread. Don't forget to include your forum username with your entry!

Closing date for submittals will be October 10, 2008.

The final product for 2008 will be available for purchase through our Zazzle store around mid to late October!

I'm not sure what browser you're using, but in Internet Explorer simply paste the link into your browser. Then, from the View drop-down menu, click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer. Once the new window opens, you should be able to simply copy and paste (or drag) your image files in there, as if it were a folder on your computer.

Please be sure to follow the file naming convention outlined above so we know who submitted what entries!
