nope Its not out yet. at least not the version in the play store.

I just downloaded it and it wont go past

"connect usb to car"
to complete installation.

they have new instructions up but the actual app on the play store doesnt seem to be "version 2.0"
so its irritating.. just wasted 30min on this.

Apparently you need to direct install the apk right now
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-...0-642-release/

the play store is the old version but has new instructions.... for 2.0 on it.. so kinda Tard-blah

EDIT: Finally got it to work. Had to manually download the APK and have it upgrade the android auto app(from play store)

Everything works.. it requires scary permissions and you have to turn on allow apps to install from unknown source.

That was way more complicated than it should have been for them announcing it days ago.

I'm going to grab a cd slot phone mount now :)

So you basically get a simplified interface on your phone instead of your usual phone screen. How's that different from just using google map on your phone to begin with? What am I missing here?

You are correct.. but actually trying it would give you a better answer than me trying to explain it.

Big buttons.. but notifications. You can tap it to read your incoming texts or autoreply you are driving.

simple 1 button to navigation, music etc.

Its actually quite smooth. Also my bluetooth hasnt frozen even once in 3 hours of testing today.

Normally if I use both amazon prime music and navi.. it tends to freeze the bluetooth at least 1-2x an hour.(requiring an ignition cycling to unfreeze the HU)

I have mine set to auto-turn on when it connects to my car radio via bluetooth. Only thing I wished it had was AUTO-OFF on my location after auto-closing(when losing bluetooth connection to car radio).. but I can live with hitting the button manually takes 5s.

Hmm I'll give it a shot and see how it goes, although I really only use my phone for nav.

you install the play store version then use that link I included to download an "apk" file that upgrades the play store version of android auto to the new version.

It requires "allow installs from unknown source" to be turned on to install.
(you can turn it back off after that)

Is there any integration with Starlink? Can it be mirrored to the HUD?

I would like to give this a try, but can't get it to work... I'm running Android 6.0.1 on a Samsun S7, and downloaded version 2.0.642704 of the Android Auto APK. When I plug in the USB cable, my phone then toggles over and says it is connected "Your car and phone are now connected via MirrorLink," but I don't see Android Auto on the screen, or under Apps; MirrorLink is grayed out. I did have another map program that I was trying to get to work with MirrorLink several months ago, and it was available under MirrorLink, but then when I uninstalled it (was wondering if it was conflicting with AA), nothing was available under MirrorLink. What am I missing? Thanks.

Edit: I was doing a little research and it seems that it could be either a phone or headunit issue (specifically, compatibility with MirrorLink 1.1). So, I was hoping that one of you that got it to work can tell me if Android Auto shows up on your phone as a MirrorLink application (Settings/More connection Settings/MirrrorLink). Mine does not. I have something called "CarMode Stub," which is a Volkswagen app--not even sure how it got there, but I also don't see a way to remove it. I also downloaded Sygic Car Navigation, and it does show up as "certified" under MirrorLink apps (and triggers MirrorLink to open on the car, but it is the only app shown). So, if Android Auto appears in that list for those of you who got it working, then I think that is the problem with mine--many posts do complain that Samsung phones don't work, for whatever reason.

Guys, someone please explain me. Are you saying that downloading this Android Auto application on android device will enable me to see maps in MFD area? Or it is just one another application that i download and finally put my phone on Dashboard Mount? I was thinking it is going to display on MFD and my phone will be in cup holder. Am I thinking too much futuristic? :)

From what I understand, the "update" to Android auto is only that it now allows it to run independently on the phone without being attached to an android auto compatible car... Previously the app would not do anything unless you had it connected to a compatible car or head unit... In essence they made Android auto a "car mode" type app. I do not believe that there was any actual changes that would allow it to work with the mirrorlink or subaru system.

"With the latest update to Android Auto you can now run the interface directly on your phone"
