DI cools the combustion chamber upon spraying which may happen in a multiple step session in relation to the position of the piston and temperature of the gasses under compression. Maybe there hides a reason for the unusual omission of the hood scoop for the turbo model: They can get the performance they want safely even with warmer intake air.

Audi has two flavors of their "Quattro" system, the expensive and the cheap one.
The expensive flavor is coupled to longitudinal arrangmement of the engine and it is a similar the Subaru's manual AWD but upgraded in design and precedes the japanese by quite some time.
The cheap one is the universal Haldex system, coupled to transverse engine arrangements and rebranded as "Quattro", which after generation 4 (ca. '08->) has become fast enough and with preload to achieve similar effect to the adaptive AWD system of Subaru and works well enough from what I've read even though an obvious to my eyes comparative shortcoming is reduced heat capacity under load.

The cooling bonus is supposed to be mostly in the low to mid range lightly loaded area of the powerband. It really isn't a bonus at WOT high rpm, which is where you would maybe need the scoop for peak demands. Personally I never cared for the looks of the scoop but it definitely said Subaru when you saw it.

I ordered my forester last night.
The dealer and I ran into some issues,

Hid is a must with the eye sights which is kind of a drawback, but shouldnt it be included with the touring...?

Also for some reason is navi included in all touring models. They weren't sure if it was an option or standard.

I am sure someone with halogens would be glad to swap your HIDs and give you some $$$ too. If I end up with a XT premium, I'd be interested in swapping to factory HID's that are genuine, not bulbs added to halogen projectors.

I am on the fence, wondering what the next WRX will be, if they have a decent wagon with cloth seats or what? I am willing to concede a WRX clutch pedal so my wife could drive it. She is unwilling to learn to drive a clutch, done deal. Her other activities more than make up for that minor deficiency. If the WRX shrinks, loses the 4 door hatchback body, or is still a manual only, I'll be ordering a Forester turbo with cloth seats, but I'd rather drive another WRX. Preliminary WRX talk makes me think I will have a Forester next.

That's the way it is. Nav is standard with the touring models and if you want EyeSight it is part of a package that also includes Hids and push button start. The model configurations and option packages along with MSRP prices are all listed on cars101 site.

As I understand the information on Forester Live there is still a internal scoop and that they omitted the classic one since the new hood is taller.

The next WRX supposedly will be a 2 door car, and will be less of a pure rally machine and start moving towards being a tourer. According to the rumors anyway. The very thought makes me want to hurl.

Then again, Subaru's pretty good at keeping secrets when they want to, and the only thing we can bank on is probably that it'll get the 2.0T in some form.

Yea I read that site, I was a bit lost when the dealers kind of didn't know too sure as well.

There is no unusual omission of the hood scoop. Subaru said in one of the promo videos that it was because the hood is higher and a scoop would have obscured the drivers vision. The higher hood lets more air in. The engine still has an intercooler, which means the DI system is not cooling the air enough on its own. I'm sure the DI system will be able to correct knock sooner, but if the ECU was truly learning what gas you were running, you wouldn't be getting lower mpg.

I don't believe you do get lower mpg. I know a poster assumed that a few pages back but Subaru only claimed less HP, not lower mpg.

Did they give you a date when it will arrive?

Also, how much off MSRP or over invoice should I be targeting on a new model like this?

April/May is what they told me for sold orders (Pre-allocated units could arrive as early as March). If you're placing a sold order, you should be able to get it for invoice price - I wouldn't plunk down $500 on a reservation unless they had that offer.

Hi StarYoshi, quick question as I am also interested in purchasing/ ordering a 2014 Forester.

What is a "Sold Order"? And how can you get invoice price on a new model?

Thanks a ton!
