Notable issues with 2010?

I have not yet owned a subaru but expect to change that soon.
We are looking at 2 different 2010 foresters. They are high mileage - 130xxx & 140xxx miles. But they still seem to be priced awfully cheap - $1200-1700 below BlueBook/NADA prices. On one hand I have heard many subarus have issues with the head gasket. Conversely difft people have said that was on older cars (late '90s to early 2000s) and/or difft models.
Can anyone provide some insight on this issue or on any other specific areas to pay attention to?
Any and all advice will be appreciated.

I have a 2010, yes they still have head gasket "problems".
This thread has a long story and a misleading title but in short the "new style" gaskets were not used on the 2010 Forester.
So leaking head gaskets are expected as early as 30K to ad late as 150K? The 2010 is also thte last year for a timing belt which must be replaced.
Head gasket design changed for the 2010 N/A models
From the body of the thread, Justin who I think is/was a Subaru Tech explains the head gasket situation.:
Hello Sam,
Subaru started using a MLS gasket in the “EJ” N/A 2.5l in 2010 with the Outback and Legacy, but never offered in the Forester or Impreza, knowing they were changing to the “FB” series in 2011 with the Forester and 2012 with the Impreza. Not enough is known about the whole FB series engines yet but so far so good.

When Subaru changed the Body style in the Legacy and Outback for the 2010 models the MLS gasket followed. 2009 was the older body style and the older single layer gasket.

Hope that helps

When the head gasket is changed to the MLS (multi layer) they seem to hold up much better.

Wow. I heard of the head gasket problem but I thought that really only affected pre 2008 models.
