I looked up my 09 XT and it's pretty spot on (I paid a bit less than $100 under their current 'great' price).
It shows actual cost for the car and options, as well as dealer invoice and sticker price. I have not compared their numbers to ConsumerReports, but from what I remember back in Dec they are pretty similar.
Anyway, looks like a pretty decent (free) tool for anyone looking for a new car.
interesting that one is using the user submitted data it seems, so the data might be valid but i'd assume a bit lacking. not sure where truecar is getting their data from.
True, user-submitted data surely does not reflect a scientific sample. Further, many people inclined to respond to such surveys may have motives other than seeking information, e.g., trumpeting their negotiating prowess. And those "facts" may or may not be embellished.
