Found a nice gem at the local Subaru dealer two days ago. A 2006 Forester XT with an asking price of $14,999. It has 61,200 miles on it though, a little high for me, but I would still consider it depending on the price. The rear bumper is also scratched up down to bumper in multiple places, and there is a 3in door ding on the driver's side rear fender.
I found an '06 XT with 55,400 on autotrader for $13,900, so I know I could haggle the dealer down to 13,9K. What do you think would be a fair price to ask for the XT at my local dealer. I'm thinking around 13K unless they do some body work. My wife and I currently have an 07 Forester Sports(non-turbo), that we both love. I wish it handled a little better and you didn't feel every bump. Would lowering help solve this or make it worse. I only ask b/c I would probably drop the XT if we get it. |

I've heard members say the ride is better on Swift Sport springs, but my set is still in the box, so I can't verify that. I found the best improvement on my '03 was from installing heaver front & rear swaybars. I'll be doing that to my '07FSXT. Some say to do the swaybars first before springs.
The deal on the '06XT sounds sweet, if you can verify all the service history. Make sure you have it placed on a lift so you can look for leaks. They can clean the top side, but they don't think about the bottom. Of course you'll have the major maintenance required at 100K miles. ![]() Bobby...

when i found my xt, i was actually kind of glad to have some dings in it. brought the price down a little and i didn't have to have that sick feeling in my stomach when i got my first ding. it's a forester, it's meant to get a couple of dings if you're having enough fun in it. ;)

I bought an 05 FXT manual last October for $14500. I's fully loaded with 37,000 miles. The price sounds high to me. Plus the bumpers (all the painted plastic) is not smooth. It's got a bumpy texture that they paint over & clear coat (I really don;t know why, may to make it slightly satin in finish?) It you have a body shop try to repair the gash, they can't recreate that texture. I worked as an auto damage adjuster for 5 years. we we would have damage to textured bumpers, we'd spec a reconditioned one. If you're not going to fix it, I'd work harder on the price.
