Don't know if this going to make a difference. I own an 08 outback, and a 12 forester. In our garage, the forester takes up less space in regards to length...the outback is a little longer, and i assume that the new outback is much longer then the 05-09 outbacks. in regards to handling, my 08 outback behaves a little more like a car, while my forester feels a little more like an suv ( but not by much). The seats also feels more suv(ish) in the forester. The forester has shorter overhangs when comparing the two, which means more clearance in the front and rear of the car. I like both of them. Good luck
