Default Best 2014 Exterior Color

Howdy!

I do not have my Forester yet but am having the hardest time choosing between colors. This will be my first Subaru

Right now, it is between White Satin Pearl and Dark Metallic Gray. I have heard that white gets dirty easily; however, the darker the color, the more scars it will show. It would be great if I could get some feedback on how historically these colors have handled over the years for you Subaru owners!

I intend on keeping this car for 10+ years. Also, I won't be doing too much off roading or anything, just road trips to Bend and up to the mountain for some snowboarding. Live in Portland.

Thanks!

That's the reason why I choose Silver. Previously I have own 2005 Subaru Legacy GT in silver. The car always seemed clean even tho it was dirty at times and you can see minor scars when I was washing my car.....sad. Plus I don't have a garage, so I park my car on the street.

My favorite color for the new Forester is Jasmine Green Metallic.

It's light but it isn't white or silver. (Silver/black/red are wayyyy too common IMO :P White is too, but white gets a pass for being awesome)

Thanks for the suggestions! I loved the Jasmine at first and then thought that it might be harder to sell down the road. White IS awesome! Wondering if parking on the street/driveway (no garage) will be an issue...

I am picking up my 2014 Forester tomorrow (wooohooooo!!!). I went to the dealership thinking that I was going to get Burnished Bronze Metallic - but I wasn't thrilled with it when I saw it in person. I too didn't want a dark car because unless you keep your car immaculate, the dark colors always look dirty. The Jasmine Green is nice, but I knew I'd get tired of the green in a month. That left me with Pearl White or Ice Silver Metallic. I swore that I'd never get a silver car (boring/dull). When I saw the Ice Silver in person I thought it looked really sharp. My last car (08' Outback) was white, so I decided to try something different so I ordered the Ice Silver w/black interior!!! It's not a dull silver, it is sparkly/metallic and it sort of takes on different tints in different lighting/settings.

Good luck with your color choice and your new Forester!!!!

As I mentioned, my Outback was white and it was not garage kept and it didn't look dirty. The light colors are definitely easier to keep looking clean! I'd go with the Pearl White - it's sharp looking!

In my opinion, white looks more luxurious .. but only if you own a carwash-subscription. :)
Your best option is probably the dark gray - since you won't really go off roading, you shouldnt be too worried about scratches.

I think both colours will withstand 10 years of ownership. After all, it's Subaru. :)

I myself have chosen black (very common, i know, but non-common colours make resale values terrible around here) because it makes the chrome elements on the XT stand out more.

I bought a Satin White XT.

Before that I had a Satin White 08 Impreza and unless you get bird crap on it or something big like that, you won't see dirt on the car till you get really close.

That's the color I would go with.

The only caveat is the 'Satin' part. If you do need to fix a big scratch, it costs a pretty penny to do the 3 stage paint fix that the Satin finish needs. If it is something small though, you can get the factory touch up paint (2 bottles) and fix it real easy.

Not sure how the above applies to the Grey.

In my experience, the White looks great and is less hard to maintain clean than you probably imagine.

Brother from another mother. I also had a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT in silver, and bought a 2014 Forester in silver.

Taking in regard what dove_jj said, I'd go for white, indeed. :)

I agree that the grey would be great for hiding filth/blemishes....personally I'm partial to the Venetian Red.

Thank you for all your responses. White seems like it may be the winner. For some reason I never envisioned myself in a white car but hey, why not?!

Besides the occasional bird crap, looks like I'll be good. My boyfriend has expressed that if we get a Forester, he'll be hand washing it a ton. Lucky me.

Now how about tinting? The plan was to get a Touring and understand the back windows are tinted. Does the dealer usually know what percentage to use on the front to match the back?

White and tinted windows will be so slick! Now come on house re-fi so I can get my car!

Don't know if it applies to you, but white cars tend to be misinterperted for police by laments, especially when they have tinted windows and a radar detector. Many people will move over for you on the highway. My last car was white so I optedfor a change, it was a hard decision to go against white. Though I would have got a Forest green if they had one in a heartbeat. My guess is they are saving dark green for the hybrid┐

If I had my choice, dark green would have been my ultimate first choice. For a long time, I dreamed of a dark greet Outback. Alas, I have moved over to the Foz world :)
