Got an updated Bill of Sale for my order with MSRP for 2017. Figured I'll post the numbers.

This was a pre-order so that I would be first in line to get the new car. I knew had absolutely no ground for negotiation. The dealership GM offered me to secure the 2016 prices, which turned out to be a good deal since prices went up for 2017.

Keep in mind that all prices are in CAD$

Don't have a solid ETA yet. Either end of July or August.

The car is fully loaded. When it comes to XT, in Canada we don't get any options other than the Tech package (which comes with EyeSight+safety tech and nav)
Since it was a pre-order, I didn't have much (if any) ammo to use as I battled over the price. The fact that he agreed to secure the 2016 prices (and thus saving me 1500+HST tax) was already more than I could ask for.

I'm curious, when people post here with the Discounts, does this mean they're paying in cash, or will the dealer give you a discount if you go with Subaru's financing? It seems all the dealerships i've visited have told me to get bent (while eyeballing 2016's), if I want to take advantage of Subaru's 0.9% Financing on the end year models. If i'm paying in cash, they can work something out.

I would recommend finding a better dealership. My dealership tries to get everyone the advertised Subaru rate. Most good dealers will have no problem giving you the 0.9% as long as you qualify for it.

Just priced out a 17 XT Touring W/Eyesight. MSRP came in at $36765.00 with a WHOPPING dealer discount of $1496 bringing the price to $35265.00 (nice 04% discount)
I didn't want to shop around but I guess I will. I thought there would be a bit more of a discount.

Congratulations on your order of your new Forester. I am actually looking at the exact model with minor changes. I am curious if you were able to spec the order online or had to go to the dealer in person.

I haven't found any ordering info on any Subaru sites for the 2017 Forester.

I hope to use your pricing as a guideline when I'm able to place my order in June.

2017 Forester Ordered

I have been a frequent visitor to this site but never posted anything before. Started out as maybe thinking of an Outback as I had a cousin working for Subaru who could get me the VIP pricing.
But by chance drove the forester and both my wife and I loved it .. the vehicle is for my wife so my opinion on it was secondary anyway :).

Anyway, didnt like like a few things on the 2016 and when we heard about all the godies on the 2017, we decided to wait and we put the order in this morning. I believe we were the first at least in that dealership to put in order for the 2017 forester.

So as a thankyou to this group for all its comments/discussions which have definitely made me more and more excited about owning a Subaru, please find the price I paid and the invoice price for the options I selected. I hope at least some of the folks who read this might find the prices useful.

MSRP Invoice
2.5i Touring $32,170.00 $30,118.00
Eyesight/Nav $1,595.00 $1,366.00
Auto dim Mirror/compass/home link $342.00 $222.00
Auto dim side mirrors $272.00 $176.00
Body side molding $265.00 $172.00
Seat back protector $92.00 $59.00
splash guards $167.00 $108.00
bumper cover $98.00 $63.00
Total $35,001.00 $32,284.00

VIP pricing 2% off invoice $31,638.32
6.25% Tax $33,615.72
Other fees (documents, plates etc) $320.00
Final On road total (Assumed) $33,935.72

How much was the destination charge and where is it included in your price? I am ready to order my touring now, too.

Assuming what you have mentioned is the MSRP, it does not look like a huge difference from the U.S. MSRP.

U.S. MSRP (+ dest) for 2.5 i Limited is $30,070. For Option 23 ( Navigation + Audio w/ Harman/Kardon® Amplifier and Speakers + EyeSight), MSRP is $2,945. Total $33,015.

43.6K CAD converted to $33,188.32 USD on google. Making it pretty close to U.S. price.

Just put a deposit on a 2017 FoXT Touring yesterday. ETA is end of July.

2017 Forester 2.0XT Touring - MSRP = $35,170
Satin White Pearl
Saddle Brown Leather
Eyesight+Nav Package - MSRP = $1,595
No other options/accessories.

Total MSRP = $36,765
Vehicle price = $32,969
Discount off MSRP = $3,796
Invoice = Approximately $34,269
Expected tax (9.5% in western WA) = $3,132

I believe this is the VIP pricing. Salesman said he offered the same internet pricing on this car as he was for the 2016 XTs which was $1300 under invoice. Which happens to be about 2%.

Anyway, super stoked. One thing I was bummed about was Subaru will not let you order a Venetian Red Pearl exterior with the Saddle Brown Leather interior. You can get the Saddle Brown with the following paint colors:

White
Black
Dark grey
Silver
Quartz Blue
Sepia Bronze

I believe the black leather interior is offered on:
White
Black
Red
Grey

This is my first post here. Been researching Subaru and pricing for months and was so excited to order a 2017 Touring today, but left the dealer a bit heartbroken:crying::frown2: (fyi I'm a lady engineer). I had everything speced out and get VIP pricing through my employer, but it is invoice pricing. I told the dealer I wanted VIP at 2% below invoice to place the order, but had no success, so I walked. What do the members here suggest to get %2 below? I saw the groups where 6 months membership gives the better VIP, but I'd rather not wait. Any suggestions?:grin2::smile2:

Well, when I generated my VIP form, it said invoice for the price. Not sure where the 2% below came from, just picked that up from browsing around the site. So I initially talked to one dealer and they said they could do $400 under invoice, but this always at the beginning of May when pricing wasn't out yet. Not a peep from that dealer since.

Another dealer (the one we ended up buying from) pinged us when TrueCar generated a quote request (I did both just to see the price difference) and they said since pricing wasn't out they couldn't give a quote but they said they'd get back to us after it was out. They did actually follow up and offered the price above without anything more than me saying I have VIP through my employer. No haggling at all.

Honestly, invoice is pretty darn good for a new model year before they even hit lots. Let them sit on it for a week while you ping other dealers for pricing. Just tell them you have VIP pricing and see what they say. If nothing changes much over the week, I say invoice is good enough. I think we just got really lucky.

emptyminded42,

Do you mind telling me what dealer and sales person you ended up going with? I am also in the Seattle area and shopping for a 2017. If you had a good experience I would like to stop by and chat with your dealer. I also sent you a personal message asking the same questions.

Thanks for your time and congrats on a great deal.

Saddle brown leather code SBL is only available with the following four exterior colors: black, white, dark gray, and bronze. All other colors including blue and silver get the black interior.

Details about equipment and so forth can be found in the MY2017 info thread at the top of the forum list. Look for "Sticky: 2017 Forester Updates Announced".

Also, if your salesperson says they don't know what's new/different for 2017, it means they haven't bothered to look. Details were sent to all US dealers back on May 18 and are readily available in their Subaru dot net computer system. The good news is that most of the info has already been posted. Happy shopping!
