Hi, new to the thread and new to Foresters. Really like what I am seeing and reading about them. So much so that I ordered one from a dealer in Colorado:
2014 Marine Blue Pearl XT Premium CVT - Body Side Moldings - Tow Hitch - Rear Bumper Cover - Fog Lights MSRP: $30,167.00 my Price: $28,027.00!! Taxes,Tags, License and dealer fees($389) extra. I was a pretty bummed that I could not get the all weather package but other than that I can't wait to get my butt in the seat and drive it!

I currently put money down on a 2014 Si Touring in dark grey metallic. The vehicle is in transit and is due to arrive at the dealership around March 22nd. The car will have popular package #2 (#2 (FYM). Auto dimming rear view mirror with compass and Homelink garage door opener, Exterior auto dimming mirror with approach lighting, rear bumper cover, rear seatback cargo net) along with side sill plates, splashguard kit and luggage compartment cover. I will be purchasing the vehicle and financing to be arranged (currently found 2.38%) and the dealer stated they will match or beat my rate.
The MSRP $ 32,207 Invoice $ 29,811 Purchase price before taxes $29,500 |

yes sir, you are out of order and in contempt of court...
no, but seriously this is the FIRST and only dealer i have contacted because its 4 miles from my house. It would be a pity for you to drive down all the way from santa fe/albuquerque for something i am sure at least several of the dozens other subi dealers closer to you would be willing to match just to earn your business. simply call the ones nearest you, ask to talk to the new car sales manager and tell them you will buy a 14 forester from the nearest subaru dealer within a 600 mile radius willing to match subaru VIP pricing. and make them aware youve got several large metropolitan cities to choose from and already have a few vip offers in salt lake city and phoenix....... phoenix, salt lake city, denver and oklahoma alone will give you amazing selection while other smaller dealerships way out in the middle of nowhere might offer much lower taxes, as is the case with the town of buckeye in the far west phx metro area..... key is to come across as confident and unfazed by anything they have to say. if they say no, leave your email or number and tell them to contact you when they change their mind and want a guaranteed sale. |

Seeing as you're in NM... one of our members here and former Forester owner (yugamu) is in sales at the Albuquerque dealership. Garcia Subaru, I think? Ask for Josh Coleman. From what I hear he's pretty awesome to work with.

Thank you Cris, for your thoughtful response. No, really. Actually there are only 3 dealerships in New Mexico. My hometown one is arrogant, disorganized and un-responsive; the other two in ABQ are a bit hard-headed and not easy to deal with - that's I why I thought to go further afield. I found Flatiron in Boulder - may I assume it is the source of your vehicle? And the Sales manager is ?
Your other input was invaluable and I shall take it to heart and see what happens. I've indeed checked around PHX, Den, CoSprings et al only to find the version I prefer (Limited) virtually non-existent - and, if at all, in black or grey. As I wrote previously I guess I will have to order and wait. That M.O. would enable me not only to get what I want without annoying packages I don't, as well as perhaps getting a decent price as there are no lot costs and the vehicle is OTD following clean-up a couple of days after arrival. Just a comment on Eyesight. I have a 13 Outback with about as heavy an option list as you can find since you have to order a Limited to get Eyesight which comes with Nav and Moonroof.
Well after using Eyesight it does work excellent. Those of you on the fence go visit the OB forum and under Gen IV just type in Eyesight for a search. I am looking at buying a 14 OB or 14 Forester and it will come with Eyesight. Funny thing is that the price difference is only a few thousand between the OB and Forester. I am waiting to drive the new Forester with 2.0L turbo to see how it stacks up. I have a friend that has a 12 Forester and compared to my OB it is like day and night. I hope the Forester is closer to the OB in quality of ride and NVH... |

My sense, having driven both a '13 ob and the '14 forester is that the forester is still a short wheelbase vehicle. It has improved, but it is not an OB like drive.

negative, the all weather package is unavailable on the XT Premium in the United States. It is standard on the XT Touring and available on the 2.5 models.

it's an error. The people who have ordered their XT Premiums have stated that they don't have the all weather package as does Cars101.com and Subaru.com if you use the build it tool.
I wish it wasn't so, it would probably be my pick.
