I'm in A2 too! Did you buy at Dunning? At invoice sounds good to me!

I am in Canada and wonder if anyone here has bought the Forester Touring trim and for what price? We are going to test drive one tomorrow and I want to be ready price-wise. On Consumer Reports they still don't have the 2014 one with base price and it's under testing. On Subaru.com/US, MSRP is $29,995; on Subaru.ca/Canada it's $32,135 (with taxes $33,741.75) due to freight and other fees.
Any tips are appreciated on Canadian negotiated prices.

A friend at a local dealer told me the new foresters are selling very very well, they met their quota early.

Was offered to custom order an FXT for $100 over invoice, which doesn't seem like a good deal, since in a couple of months I am sure one can get better prices due to better supply. What do you think about placing my order and getting in line now at that price, or should I continue to wait and see what comes along the pipeline?

Did you try out Arthur from South Coast subaru? I know it's a drive for you but maybe it will be worth it?

Doc Fees and VIP Program

In PA doc fees used to be regulated at $55. Since they dropped that dealers have a license to really rip people off. $130 was the best I found but its all profit. You folks should always ask if they accept the VIP Program. Everyone in the Philly area did do the VIP Program I went to except one dealer who was clueless. Some cars are excluded like a WRX or Crosstrek.

There is nothing special about getting it. Some large companies have a VIP relationship with Subie but that only gets you (if you are an employee) invoice pricing. The Partnership Companies make you join like the Sierra Club or Kayak Club or whatever. PHS is $65 to join but you get 2 tickets worth $56 to the flower show in Philly. Subie is a major sponsor of that show at the PHilly Convention Center and that is where the first Foresters were made available to sit in. That show was in the first week in March.

Some clubs have a 6 month waiting period to issue the VIP letter but PHS does not. They get Subie to issue your VIP letter to you and the dealer almost asap.

Congrats Nisti. Did Paul Solko at Flatirons Subaru help you? I bought my 2014 from them and from Paul and it was a great experience. Hope the same for you.

Yep.
Paul was great to work with. Very straight forward and helpful.
Definitely will be going back to him for future Subaru purchases!

Bought a 2014 Forester!

Hey Everyone,

So I've been posting a bit on these forums this morning because I picked up a '14 Forester yesterday! I got a fantastic deal and wanted to share. I asked my dealer if he wanted me to post what I paid and he was ambivalent about doing it, but hey, its the internet!

Background: I went to this dealer (in southwest Michigan) because he was willing to order my previous car, a 2012 Legacy direct from the factory with everything at invoice. So, I went back to him intending to do the same for a '14 Forester. Once I got there, he had exactly the model, trim & accessories right on the lot, so I asked if he would deal on that rather than dealing with a waiting period to order.

He offered me the car at invoice on the lot and I asked for the 2% below invoice (not the VIP program as I'm not part of any of the qualifying organizations...so to be clear, I just asked for 2% below in general). Here's how it all came down:

2014 Forester 2.5i Limited
Price of Vehicle: $26,629.54
Documentation: $190
Tax: $1609.17
Lic. transfer + title: $23.00
Total delivered: $28,451.71

With $2500 down I got 1.64% financing for 60 months through US Bank - the dealership was extremely helpful to find me the best rate - I really have to commend them for this because they could've pushed me into the loan through Subaru which would have been 1.9% for 36months (still a good rate, but my payment with $0 down would have been $825...in other words, insanity). I want to private party sale my previous car and not worry about getting quick cash, so this deal was fantastic for me and applaud the dealer for looking out for me.

Note on accessories - my car is on the cheaper end of the Limited spectrum - it only came with the standard cargo tray and those stupid cargo net things (I didnt want those, but it was part of the deal). No fancy mirror, no bumper cover, no all weather mats - probably the most basic limited you can order.

As you all are shopping, remember that dealers get "turn & earn" incentives for moving a lot of vehicles through their lots. The more they sell, the more they get. If they tell you that they "don't make money by selling the car at invoice", that is not entirely true (not really a lie either). Depends on the dealer and how they want to work their inventory.

:woohoo:

That is an awesome deal, and you got EXACTLY what you wanted with minimal hassle. In all my choices I was saddled down with some stuff I didn't really want but selection was limited and I was glad I could get the colors I wanted. Not helping was that people were buying up Foresters so I had to move fast. Congrats on the terrific price and the great financing! You know you'll need to post pics soon, right? :Banane35:

Haha, she can have the turbo fun in my car.
She would've gotten an XT Touring if cloth interior was offered.
She really hates leather.

Yeah, but no All Weather Package.
Also a must for her... those heated seats.

Nisti-
That's a heck of a deal. I pretty much wanted that car you bought but in Dark Gray and w/o the Navi and Wheel Locks but with the Moonroof. Other than that, I must say I have buyers envy! Congrats

3 days ago just bought the 2.5i Prem Dark Gray CVT
MOONROOF
WEATHER PACKAGE
CARGO TRAY
COMPARTMENT COVER
REAR BUMPER COVER
SPLASH GUARD KIT
= $25,100 invoice cost (VIP Program)

However, once you include ttlr + maintenance package I was above $26K
