2014 Forester leather: which parts?

The salesperson could not seem to answer my question. On the Foresters that have the leather "accessory" interior feature, which pasts of the interior are actually leather?

thanks

Keith

The seats, door arm rests (not the sills), sliding center console, shift knob, and steering wheel are made of "leather" in the Limited/Touring trims. I use quotes because I can't speak to its quality - It's comfortable so far, at least :)

Sitting in the 2014 Limited I could not detect any leather smell. Nor does the "leather" look like it came from an animal. Is Subaru using a synthetic material, and mislabeling it?

it says "leather trimmed upholstery"....not sure what that meant? maybe man made with just a touch of leather here and there?

All I can say is... Whatever it is it's better than that god awful looking cloth interior. While I was looking I figured I would want the "Leather". I was seriously considering a premium but after seeing multiple cars in several dealer lots with filthy dirty cloth interiors that I didnt really like the look or feel of anyway, I decided the "Leather" was worth the price difference.

I'm getting an XT premium and decided to get aftermarket leather. I was told by my salesman that Subaru considers themselves an animal "friendly" company. The aftermarket leather may possibly be better than OEM Subaru leather. I drove an XT touring and I can say that OEM Subaru leather is not great as far as OEM leather goes. Its better than cloth. When I get my vehicle I'll be sure to share my thoughts on the aftermarket leather.

In the newer Legacy/Outbacks with the Lmited package, the actual leather is the strip of material in the center of the seats both front and back which are perforated ( small holes ) The side bolsters , door trim, center arm rest are made up of other syn. material. Not sure if this is the same case for the Limited Forester.

^^^ It is exactly like that in the 2.5i Limited. The leather isn't the only upgrade when opting for the Limited over the Premium though, as I wish I could have found a Limited when we actually needed a new one...
The auto headlights, cold weather package, auto climate control, larger LCD thing, chrome window trim, fog lights, cargo tray, and auto lift gate is a bargain for a $1500 upgrade in model. I think you get x-mode too in the Limited. I wish I would have waited, but all the Limiteds we saw were loaded way up to $30k with Nav or eyesight... Or they were the wrong color two states away. The Premium cloth isn't horrible, but you can tell its made to be fairly rugged and shampoo-able. Sorta reminds me of the stuff in a jeep that wicks a bit and can dry quickly if necessary. Just some things to ponder besides the leather.

I was seriously considering the premium and then doing aftermarket leather. I was looking for "basic Forester" plus leather + all weather (coming from a 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4WD). The premium with all weather and a leather option would have been PERFECT for me. Since there is no premium with leather option I was looking at aftermarket leather. Trouble is the aftermarket leather was going to run $1000-$1200. With the extra items mentioned above for a ~$1500 price difference it didnt make much sense. Just pay the extra ~$300 for stuff I really didn't care about. I really could care less about Auto headlights, Fog Lights, X Mode, Auto Climate Control and the power rear lift gate but for the ~$300 difference (after adding all weather and leather to a premium) those other items seemed justifiable. I just decided to go with the Limited instead. Now of course they also didnt have any Limited's that I wanted (Color/Towing package) on the lot either. Grand Subaru cannot seem to keep them on the lot, they are moving FAST! So I was forced to place an order. :( no instant gratification for me lol ;) Here in the Chicagoland area I have been to 4 different dealers an none of them had more than 3 or 4 Foresters on the lot at a time and when I would go back to each dealer a few days later the inventory while still 3 or 4 units was completely different. (Saw more XT's than NA's too) Had them do a "pipeline" search and it seems adding the towing package is not something they get in the pipeline frequently.

Any Issues with Passenger Seat Belt Buzzer?

I also had leather and heated seats added to my 2014 Premium XT. I'm having an issue with the passenger seat thinking someone is in the seat even when they're not. Dealer says it's due to the weight of the heating pad and they have no way to bypass this. I have to have the belt buckled even without a passenger, or the buzzer and light drive me insane

Have you had any similar problems?

Thanks
