Question 2013 Buying experiences?

Trying to find some threads on peoples buying experience and prices paid on their 2013 Foresters but I don't see that much. Right now I'm in the market for the 2.5x Premium with All Weather Plus, Pop Package 1, Weather mats, and Luggage Compartment Cover MSRP around $26,920-$27,100. I've emailed around 5 places and a couple offers so far at around $25,360 (without tax title). Anybody have any buying experiences or figures they would like to share, I would love to hear them!

PS. Also working on trading in my 2005 Forester XS 4dr with moon-roof, Never did the whole trade in thing so doing as much research as I can on working out a deal.

Edmunds has the invoice price. If you can get a couple hundred below invoice you're doing pretty well.

make sure to squeeze out every penny on the trade in that you can. I was able to bring a $5200 trade in up to $7k without a problem. also pick a price you want to pay and don't budge on it. they need the business these days. I walked out of a dealership last week after they refused to come down $40/mo on 60 month payments and had 4 messages from them when I got home saying they'd do the deal. They lost their chance and I went with a different dealer who got me the car for way under invoice. all in all a good experience

In my area, the two dealerships that sell Subarus also sell high-end cars like Mercedes and BMW. I think they've been trying to sell Subaru as an upscale brand as well, at least up until the last couple of years. The first time I walked into one of those dealerships to look at a Forester, I was ignored completely. Salespeople walked right past me as if I wasn't even there. I was very unimpressed.

CarCostCanada (our invoice pricing service) showed hardly any dealer incentives going on, ever. Hyundai would offer 0% financing for 84 months plus a $500 gas card, Ford would have employee pricing and other bonuses, Subaru? Our special is 3.9% financing.

So when they finally had a decent incentive -- $3000 cash rebate or 0.9% on 2012's -- I jumped. I also bought a used daily rental with 3000 miles on it which knocked the price down a bit more, and then I negotiated a whopping $700 discount on top of that. I know I could have fought harder but whatever, it was the price I was prepared to pay.

FINALLY GOT ONE......2013 2.5X Premium w/ All Weather PLUS package (Cargo tray, body side molding, all weather floor mats, rear bumper cover, splash guards, auto dim mirror, luggage compartment cover **threw compartment cover in with deal**) MSRP = $27,096.....Got it for 24,500. Traded in a 2005 forester that needed ALOT of work done too it, prob over $1000, and the total price came to $16,000 with the trade. Tax (8.75%) and title brought it to $17,550. Not sure if I could have done better but it was my first time dealing with a trade-in and was very happy when we agreed upon the $16,000 number. (Upstate NY)

Got my 2013 Forester X Premium Pop Pk2 for $23,6xx before TT&L.

I had another dealer match that price too, so if your dealer is being a stickler, shop around.

Got mine a few days ago. I found out online that the dealership was offering $4,100 off msrp on all 2013 foresters. Got the 2.5x Premium, which was $27,453 with pop #2. So it was $23.3xxx, add tax, title, warranty stuff, went back up to $26,xxx. Not sure if that was a good deal because hubby didn't deal or haggle or anything. Just test drove it and said he wants that one and signs all the papers. I'm like did you even read the stuff you're signing?! lol. I think we probably could've made a better deal, but oh well.

MrFoPow - Not to dig this out of yesteryear, but was just digging through old threads. You own a Deuce and a half? Those things are awesome. I drove one for years. I think the manufacture date of the one I drove was 1952 (and I drove it in the mid 90's while in the Army).

I can't say they were the most enjoyable drive at all, but they were a ton of fun. Gives you a lot of appreciation for what we are driving nowadays once you hop into a large truck with a stickshift, steering, and brakes that can be a workout while driving in an urban area (I drove one on Korea).

But as far as reliable, it was one of the older vehicles in our motor pool, and started without a sputter on the coldest of days. Nothing seemed to stop that thing from starting up. One cold days with the HMMWVs or the 5-tons though you had to do a lot of hoping, praying, begging, pleading, bribing. The M35s never failed us. The only thing I ever saw stop one was when it got barbed concertina wire wrapped around it's axles.

Hey, I just found this forum after buying my 2013 Forester 9 days ago. Love the new car so far!

I took advantage of Subaru's 0% APR/63 months deal. I think that deal goes until the end of the month. After doing the math, it was cheaper to get a 2013 with this deal than it would have been to get a 2012 or even 2011 Forester.

Anyway, I got a 2.5x (base) with the Allow Wheels Package, Popular Package #1, All Weather Mats, and an Auto-Dimming mirror w/Compass & Homelink. I was able to get all of that for about $22,142 (about $600 below invoice). With the 0% APR deal my payment is $385/mo. Great deal.

My dealership (San Diego) had a lot of 2012-13 inventory that I think they were trying to clear out to make room for the 2014s. So it seems like a great time to buy. Good luck!
