Default Rear seat back protectors for a 2010 Forester

One of the newer options is a "rear seat back protector" for the back seat. They are them available for the Outback, Impreza, and Crosstrek. I am wondering if any of these would fit on the Forester? Or does Subaru plan on making some for the Forester soon? I plan on putting a small heard of dogs in the back and I think these would help.

I definately would be interested, as well. When I fold down the seat, I'm hauling cargo of some sort. I have a cargo tray. I need the seat back covers to complete the protection. You'd think that Subaru would realize that people buy Foresters to haul things.

they do have a seat back protector. it's like the cargo mat but longer to cover the seats and folds up/down with the seat.

the only place i saw it was on a japanese website. somebody on this forum has one which is how i found the website at one point
Foldable cargo tray for Forester

i found one on the subaru global website http://www.subaru-global.com/11forester_acc_05.html

Wow, that looks really nice.

I've thought about ways to build my own, I see people have done it using things like indoor/outdoor utility carpet, or foam mats (those "puzzle pieces"). I was considering building something out of 1/4" hardboard or plywood, covered with felt or thin carpeting. Maybe make two pieces sized like the 60/40 seatbacks so I could choose what to cover. I was thinking of making the pieces L-shaped so one end would have a lip that goes over the top of the seats, and holes in the lip where the headrests would lock the pieces into place.

Meanwhile, while I'm considering all that, I just keep a utility blanket a tarp in the trunk. :)

I'd love to make one for both of my foresters as I throw bikes and ice fishing shanties in the back all the time. My 07 has taken some scars but need to protect the 09. I learned from the mistakes in my car, I'll hear it if I mess hers up.

Try to use the universal Weathermat and trim to fit.

I, too, have been considering this. I was thinking some sort of heavy duty ABS plastic type material would work well. Sourcing something like that has been the tricky part though. The Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix had an entirely plastic rear end and it was really nice for durability & sliding things in and out.

I'm going to the dealer on wednesday. I'll take a tape measure to an outback and see how far off the dimensions are. the part is only about $50 so I'm eager to see if it'll fit.

It's more likely an Impreza one would fit than an Outback one.

It wouldn't be too much work or all that costly to pick up a 1/8", 3/16" or 1/4" thick sheet of plastic and cut it out to your desired shape of the area on the seat back you want to cover.

I have thought about doing this for both our SGs.
