Default Primative Skidplate

Alright I am all set to purchase the skidplate for front and rear. My question is 3/16th or 1/8?

What are the pros and cons of each?

I plan on offroading with Smash and the rest of gang soon if that is any help

The 1/8" is cheaper to ship.

Get the thick one.

If you plan to follow Smash...3/16 is a must.

Hehehehehehe. Come out to Colorado. I'll show you. It's rocks like this that make me happy I have the 3/16s. Overkill maybe. But I'm willing to go too far with underbody protection.

Dang it ash... I've been waiting to come out and go exploring with you but I can never seem to get the time.... I have my crappy plastic 'skid plate (stock)' off right now but I found out previous owner broke one of the bolt heads off so I got'a try to twist it out so i can install the primative 3/16...

I rarely off-road, and then only out of necessity, and yet even I have experienced the need for a 3/16" skid plate. Unless all you do is highway driving, go ahead and get the heavier skid plate.

Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna order it next monday so hopefully it will be here soon. Gonna do 3/16th since I gotta try and keep up with Smash.

Also is the same thickness needed for the rear diff?

Smash if you got time next week lets meet up and talk cars. I might need some help with the install and whatnot.

Yeah, send me a pm with your schedule next week, I'm pretty open in the evenings but am leaving Friday afternoon: karla and I are taking the motorcycle up to the black hills in south dakota for the weekend. Never been there, gonna go check it out.

I got the 3/16" front (no access holes) and 1/8" rear. I wasn't sure if the design of the 3/16" rear would clear my Cobb exhaust and the 1/8" seems adequate. Many argue that you don't need anything in the rear anyway, since the diff is cast iron. I mostly got the rear plate because it looks cool.
