Well it seems Husky liners has finally released their mats for the Forester, same pricing as the Weathertechs. Has anyone ordered and received the Husky's? Has anyone had the chance to compare them to the Weathertechs? I'm curious to see if one is better than the other.
Husky makes nice heavy rubberized mats and I have bought several sets for work trucks, but their weatherbeater series (weathertech comparison liners) weren't as nice when I got some for my cherokee. So when it came time to get some for the '14, I chose Weathertech. They also have a military and first responder discount of 5% and free shipping! $160 to my door versus $190. No brainer for this guy.
Has anyone checked the floor coverage for the driver with these mats. The dealer gave me a set of the Subaru all weather mats but they have very poor coverage for the driver. The entire area around and under the gas pedal is not covered by the mat and gets very dirty. I am looking for a mat with good coverage in the area of the gas pedal.
Has anyone compared the liners against the Subaru mat?

I ordered my Husky Liners through Autoanything.com, same part # and style as the Husky Liner site. But I have some issues with them which I have emailed customer service about. They showed up in a open box, it looks like someone intenstionlly had opened it up and threw it back together. And they look like they may have been used, there are some rough spots and scratch marks on them which you can see in the pics. I haven't stepped foot on these yet, I just tossed them in there for the pics!
Anyway the coverage looks good to me but I'm going to wait until I hear back from Autoanything before I dirty them up.
I bought them for $143.96 + free shipped through them which is cheaper than the Husky Liner site, maybe in cheaper isn't better in this case? I'll see what customer service says/does for me and keep you guys posted.
I haven't seen the Weathertechs so I'll take your word for it.
Husky Liners guarantee they won't break or tear under normal usage during the life of the vehicle in which they were installed. I'm sure Weathertech has a warranty as well. I figure either way works, I'm not worried if people will think what they are stepping on in my car looks cheap or not.
Other than the look of them, anything else stand out? I read that they don't stay in place very well, nothing to help grip the carpet? They do look better though I won't argue with that.
I have not had any issues with them moving. The drivers one stays in with the hooks.
Both the liners fit in quite snug... to the point that I was surprised when I had to take them out to wash them. I don't regularly have passengers, but when I have theirs has not moved at all either.
Aside from the material, I think the only other notable difference is the slightly improved coverage behind the pedals.
EDIT:Just noticed... It looks like the Husky liners cover the gas door release hatch? The WT liners do not.
Husky my friend said it doesn't sit flushed to the gas door area.
I'm also not liking the mat goes up to the dead pedal. I guess you can't do the sti pedals.
It looks like it would not be too hard to cut out the area in that depression where the gas door release is at. That would probably impact their warranty though.
I forget to pull the lever half the time I go to get gas as it is. If it was covered up I would really forget it. My last vehicle did not have a lever :icon_cool:
Haha yeah it does, I just went out and sat in the seat to see if I would have trouble lifting it from that angle but all was fine to me. I don't have a problem with it, I fill up once every 2 weeks so it's no hassle for me.
I actually like that because in the last couple cars I've had that is the nightmare spot to get dirty/rocks and whatever else falls in there. But I do see how that would be annoying to some.
I have the Husky liners and really like them. They are very light, yet they seem sturdy. I like the spikes to keep them still. I agree that the matte or flat finish of the Weathertech liners is nicer looking, but my experience with Weathertechs in a work vehicle is that they do slide around and they are hard to clean once you get ground in dirt.
Also, the Husky's are designed to cover the fuel door release lever. It says in the directions that you can leave it covered and lift it up to pull the lever or you can cut out around it to expose the lever. I like mine covered to keep it clean and I don't buy gas very often, so no hassle to me.
As mentioned above, the Husky Floor liners do have the spikes and would recommend them over the WeatherTech. I bought the WeatherTech first but was not happy with them. They did not cover underneath the gas pedal and dirt and grime dropped onto the carpet underneath and needed to be lifted out to clean underneath. I was concerned about winter in Ohio with slush and crime soaking the carpet around the gas pedal. Also the heavier texturing of the weathertech liners make cleaning dirt off more time consuming. The Husky liners do fully cover under the gas pedal and are smoother to clean with a papertowel or work cloth, and the fit is excellent. Had to order both the front and back since they do not offer the front set alone llke WeatherTech.
The '14s must be different or you aren't talking about the liners then because mine definitely cover all the way to the pedals, just not as high as they could be (not as tall as the Huskys) and stuff does get behind the top edge. Not a big deal to me, but I don't have to contend with much snow. Mine has no problem clearing the gas tank release with no trimming, but does collect some debris too. I *did* have to trim the ones for my WRX. NO floor mat is going to catch everything. Don't need spikes with these either because they don't move around as they are a perfect fit just like the Huskys. I've had them on my WRX for 3 1/2 years without issue and were the first thing I ordered for my FXT.
I don't "wipe" my WeatherTechs - I pull them out, hose them off, let them dry and drop them back in.
I emailed Husky asking about any warranty issue if you trim the fuel door lever section.
This was the reply I received:
"If we ask a customer to trim a liner it would never void the warranty for that being done. If a customer makes a mess of the trimming we would also send a replacement liner. Early liners did not cover the fuel door release lever but had many comments from customer saying that dirt/debris would collect in the area and wanted coverage. We decided at that time to make a trimmable area above the release. We really hear very little negative comments about it being covered so we have stuck with the trimmable area.
Thanks for your interest!

The 2014 model liners must have been changed since there is a large cutout underneath the gas pedal. Dirt and debris collects onto the carpet under the gas pedal since the liner no longer covers the area. The Husky liners are much nicer in that they cover the complete area underneath the gas pedal.
i went ahead and bought the husky liner weather beater. i think it was a better bargain price wise and really like the great reviews it got.
can't wait to get it. i've been sporting just a vinyl plastic mat that i cut off with a scissor to fit the front since i've been to lazy to pick up the floor mats from subaru because of the recall. i'll probably pick up the floor mats when i get an oil change, might as well.
They have been good for me so far, the only complaint I have is the smell of the materials it's made out of. Nothing over powering, I just notice it a little when I first open the door. I'm sure it will dissipate over time, overall a great purchase and would buy Husky again!
when i first purchased my Weathertechs for my 2010, they were a little slippery at first. I mean in terms of my foot sliding around, not the mat sliding around. Are the Husky liners slippery?
The Husky Weather Beater set arrived today. They don't smell bad, but they do look kind of cheesy.
I was pleased with the price and the better coverage and carpet grabbing fingers are pluses.
I will update after we get the Forester and use them.
I have been running my husky liners for about two weeks now. work great, no slip, coverage is great, no strange odor. The shiny look starts to go away with use. Glad I went with husky for sure.
Thanks for the reply, but I emailed them, and was told I could order just the front if I called into their customer service number.
