I really don't think there is much to fear from "Touchless" car washes. It is the powered brush type that I would stay away from (a prepaid disaster drive-through!)
Most touchless types use a finely filtered rinse cycle that prevents spotting. Just make sure that you carry a chamois-type cloth to give the car a finishing wipe (or use an LA squeegee bar). Griff

honestly, i've never had a carwash (touchless or not) mess up my paint. granted a nice handwash will ALWAYS look better, but i have no problems driving through the occasional car wash. well it has to be touchless right now, still haven't fixed my torn rear bumper cover. haha.

i tend to wash my car very often sometimes 4 times a week i usually try to do a full undercarriage and wax automated car wash once a week then do a hand wash three times a week. I have used a lot of products ive noticed that the rainx concentrated formula works really well i do a rinse then i take a mop type attachment and put that on the end of the hose and then use the concentrated formula with a hand towel. After that i use the rainx wipes on my windows. I love the wipes because i never need to use my windshield wipers. I then just buff the windows and then i put on a wax coat once a week. I try to vacuum my car every two days as well. I'm kind of a nut with having clean but i always love hittin up the muddy trails.

wash your own car with the 2 bucket method. i'll give you a pass if you use car washes in the winter, because i do as well, but thats only because i do a full detail in the spring that corrects the paint back to it's pre-car-wash state. |

not to sound like a jerk, but i'm pretty sure it's just his personal preference. i commend the guys who do take a lot of care of their cars like that, but for me, i'd rather be out having fun in mine (not to say that they don't). unless it gets just obscenely dirty, well a quick car wash to knock off a few layers of dirt and i'm back on it. i'm never going to enter the car in a show, so a few swirls don't bother me, as i'm sure some of the other forumers here. to each his/her own.
