Question Roof rack aging

l recently bought an 05 forester 2.5x When I removed the cross bars on the roof rack the area under the clamps look brand new. The rest of the area looks weathered. Does anyone know how to make the whole length look the same shade? This is my first subaru and I like it quite a bit. Thanks for any help. Also my first post so be nice, thanks.

The metal rails have been a problem on my '03, since it's parked outside. The rails are metal (ends are plastic), but don't take wax well at all. After trying several different products, the one I use now is Mother's Back-to-Black. This stuff, if used on a on going basis, will make anything black, plastic or metal, look like new!

BTW, welcome to the forum!

I know it sounds like a wind up, but try SMOOTH peanut butter to bring the plastic back to life. The oils in it are better than any product in the shops. I thought it was a joke when i heard about it until i tried it, now i dont use anything else.
If its the metal part that is weathered, use alluminium pollish.
