Default Show me your pop-up

Alright, I have the CLASS 3 hitch (2") and ready to look at a pop up?

Can I have some posts with pics of the outside (up and down) and the inside?

I have a small family. I am not interested in the luxo pop-ups. Basic is perfect. 8 to 12 feet

I have a 2009 FXT.

Thanks

Oooo good luck and have fun!!

I had a popup but it was ancient. Lots and lots of pop up oriented forums, do a google search and see what the favorite manufacturers are!

Just finished planning the summer trip before my wife has to go back to work from 1 year of Maternity Leave.

Stumbled across this thread, Lightweight travel trailer or pop-up camper recommendations?

I loved this trailer, Fleetwood, Keystone RV, Prowler, Bounder
(not the manufacturers website)

I think that we are going to go with this Sportz by Napier , sleep out of the back of the subie, one of the reasons we like the space in the back.

I just bought this last Friday:

2009 Aliner Scout, I haven't even picked it up yet but I had been looking at them for over a year. With the economy in the toilet, you can find really good deals right now.

Just over 1,000 lbs, sleeps 4 with electric, lighting, furnace and A/C.

Default What does something like that cost?

I am interested in acquiring something like this for family trips. Do you mind letting us know what it would cost to get into something like this? Thanks, ajlaw

New pop-up's range anywhere from $2,000 to $20,000 depending on size, type, accessories, etc. There are several that fall within the towing weight limits of the Forester.

I had been window shopping for awhile and wanted to stay between $6,000 & $8,000, I liked the Aliners the best but they seemed out of my price range.

I found this Aliner on Ebay, brand new from an Aliner dealer, won it with a bid of $7,498 I added A/C that brought it up to $7,948.

You'll also need a hitch, 7-pin connector and brake controller (if the pop up is over 1,000 lbs) and you may want to consider a transmission cooler if you have an AT.

It's a good time to buy, campers and RV's are considered "luxury items" so there are a lot available right now and they are eagar to deal.

I bought a Coleman, aka Fleetwood (they changed names in ~2007), Santa-Fe. Here is my post about it. I think it is great and very well built. Looking over my Pics, I don't really have any good ones of the inside. Here is a few Pics.

This one is in the May's FOTM! Vote Now!!!

Here it is parked in the Drive way. Also, I just noticed, in the Photo my Forester of course, but you can also see a bit of my wife's old blue Tercel and my old green Protege. The drive way was pretty crowded back then. The Black rails are for the Roof Rack (which I don't have, yet). The Roof is suppose to be strong enough to carry a Canoe AND bikes, or what not. Most Tent Trailers can't do that. Also I don't have the accessory fan, which I plan to get this year.

On the Road.

At the Campsite.

This is the "Swing level Galley". The Sink and stove swing down to the floor but remain level (as opposed to flipping upside down as some do). This allows us to store things in the sink and in the cupboard. There is the 3 way fridge too (Propane/120Vac/12Vdc). Beside is the Queen sized bed.

Close up of the Stove and sink. The Santa-Fe has High Pressure stoves (inside AND outside) which burn much hotter than low pressure stoves (Boil water Sooo much faster).

Here is the Double Bed. The cushions are for the dinette, which is also a double bed. More storage on the lower left. In the gray bag is the outside stove.

Too bad I don't have pictures of the Lockable Step/Door. Most Pop-ups, anyone can unlock the door from the outside, walk in, then leave and lock the door again. This Coleman, the step door folds up and has a REAL lock. Of course if someone really wanted to get in they could just cut the canvas sides and climb in.

I also like the "Back saver" Bed Pull outs and Lift system. You don't have to bend over to setup/take down either. You still have to bend over to set the stabilizers and unhitch though.

James

PS When we were Popup shopping, I was really interested in a Trillium (which is made just outside of Calgary), but it is not a pop up. I didn't get a chance to actually see one. If you have time, Subieoutlaw, I would appreciate it if you could check it out and give your opinion.

I bought mine used for $6000 CND. It was three years old. Brand new it cost about $15000+ CND. I think now would be a good time to pick up a used one for cheap.

I like it as well Opie. Im a tightwad and couldnt pay that much for a pop-up, even though they are perfect for a forester. Larger trailers that list for 10-20k are being fire sold for 30-50%off, and i have always wanted a 27' with slide outs. But then that would require a new truck to pull it, so that wont be happening.

anyways, nice campers guys.

at first I thought you would'nt want to see mine,

but then I started thinking about all the subaru-vanagon conversions out there and then I had to post my pic too;

back to your discussion, the T@b trailers are really tiny, I've seen the Trilliam ones on the road and they like a good little trailer, but I'll never give up our westy

Nice.

I can't seem to find one that is reasonably cheap.

This probably doesn't count, but here's a couple of shots of my Outfitter Apex 8 pop-up camper on my '07 Dodge 3500:
