Default This is a thread for my Forester with a generic title.

There's nothing I'm worse at than thread titles, as far as internet posting goes.

I bought this on May 25, 2012 at a used car dealer I don't know if I should mention again at risk of sounding like advertising, here in Pittsburgh.

When I first test drove it it had a hair over 139,000 miles, maybe 139,020? By the end of the test drive and pre-purchase inspection I had that up to 139,060.

I don't really plan on doing a whole lot of modification to it, just cleaning up its imperfections, which it has quite a few, adding a new radio, etc.

Photos to come in a few minutes.

So one of the irksome problems I discovered AFTER buying my Forester was that the CD player/changer doesn't work. The AM/FM radio works just fine.

So I figured I'd open it up and take a peek, see if maybe it wasn't just a simple jam that I could clear. Nope.

Seeing as how I already planned on replacing the radio shortly (Still deciding what to replace with) I decided to just remove the offending parts.

... rather briskly.

Just a quick shot in the dark (literally, as it's almost 11PM) of the new head unit I just put in, Pioneer AVH-P3400. Better photos to... maybe come?

Congrats! Nice head unit, I have the AVH-P3300 and love it.

Excellent hill parking technique BTW.

I haven't really had much to do to the car due to lack of money. Routine maintenance time came around though so:

Pulled that out. Nice and tasty. 141k miles in about 5 miles, close enough to call it.

Also changed the oil. Nothing fancy or exciting. Good excuse for a little drive though!

Since my last post almost a month ago I replaced the valve cover gaskets and changed some of the oil again... because I left out a bolt and it let the oil out. Smoove mooth.

Anyhow. Now that the VCGs are new it would appear that my small oil leak is gone, as it was apparently just that, not the head gaskets. Fortunately.

I still need a new clutch before too long, or maybe more skill at starting on a hill, or both...

Crosspost from the what did you do today thread...

Had a.... gentleman force his way in in front of me in traffic, apparently didn't like how close behind him I was (You know... because he just forced himself in) and he stood on his brakes, causing me to hit him.

This being PA I didn't try to argue with him because I'm at fault regardless of circumstances. I don't have collision coverage so this is going to be out of pocket.

Anyone know a good western PA local source for a hood, bumper, headlight, etc?
