Thanks, they're not exactly OZ rims or rotas, but its a different look that will set it apart a bit.

Idiots in a parking lot, opening their door with no regard to any other vehicle around. They basically just slammed it open perfectly into the center of that fender. It was worse. I popped most of it out. I'll get around to doing the body work eventually and then taking it somewhere to get it sprayed. Just haven't felt like dealing with it while there's so many other things to do. Once I run out of legit items to mess with I'll hit it up.

Once i finish this project that is goinmg to be my next. Sage green with gold rims sounds good to me. Let me know how the brake dust is with the plasti dip ive heard it sticks to it. Did you even bother taping off the tires or did you just peel off the over spray?

Dont tape off the tires. Spray heavily onto them while getting the outer diameter of the rim with the plastidip. Don't even peel it off untill after the bronze has been sprayed and dried for at least two hours. That way the bronze color (which is much harder to remove on its own) comes up with the rubber you thickly sprayed on the tire.

After they dry(2hours is long enough), take a paper towel with some mineral spirits or paint thinner and wipe the outside diameter of the tire down to clean it free of the thinist layer of over spray. After about an inch of wiping it should be thick enough to start rolling inwards toward the center of the tire with your fingers. Go all the way aroind the tire rolling it toward the rim. Once you get nearly to the rim you should have plenty of rubber to grab and peel off. All my tires were oversprayed enough that they didn't break and I pulled off the entire thing off in one round piece.

Cool i wont be doing the dark bronze like you but it looks great on your car. I am going to do it one color gold on mine to keep it brite to match the britness of my color. The same steps would aply just with out 2 different colors correct?

No, there is no gold plastidip. Its a special gold metalizer that goes on top of the black. To get bright gold youll spray 3 good coats of black as if you were going to just black them out. Then let it dry for 1.5-3hrs or untill it sets decently and you can touch it without issues.

Now you'll take the gold metallizer overspray and begin lightly coating over the black adding more coats untill you have the brightness you desire. The same stuff I have can make them light and bright gold if I kept applying layers. With minimal layers of gold the black undercoating of plasti dip doesnt get fully covered and gives the dark gold/bronze effect.

You have to have the black underneath though. The gold isnt plastidip at all. Just an overlay made for the regular stuff. Watch a few youtube videos from Www.dipyourcar.com that involve the gold or silver metalizer. Probably wouldn't hurt to watch some of their basic videos either to see how they apply it and some of the tricks.

Ok thanks how many cans will i need of each and were did you buy it from? I was looking at the color selection and was wondering how they would look blaze yellow, orange or green lol. I will be going gold though probly just a couple shades lighter then yours. Ive always liked gold rims on subarus i feel its subtle and classy ever since my friend got a 1995 red impreza 2.5 rs in high school from his dad and it had a hood scoop and gold rims and we thought it was so bad *** but this was 6 years befor the wrx would come to america.

You'll need 3 black regular plastidip. You can get them in the spray paint section at lowes.

You'll need two cans of gold metalizer. The gold metalizer may be there at lowes or home depot but I couldnt find any here. I ordered it off amazon. You can also order from that site I linked above. Looked like they had it cheaper than amazon.

Nice. I did half of the car at a time but if you could do all for at a time your liking at 5-6 hours total including dying time. Total painting time for me was less than an hour. waiting around took the most time. After the gold dries for two hours you can carefully put then back on but even with them back on, I let the car sit in the garage for half a day to be safe.

Two or three light sprays. It doesnt dry any different than what it looks like going on so just keep spraying on them till it satisfies you.
