Google maps says 32 hours of driving to TN. I'd have to burn half of my vacation time for the year. Plus I'll need an oil change when I'm out there. LOL. Let me consider it...

Hey Huey, any chance you could direct me to where you got the brakelines from, or if you have a part number?

I'm redoing my stock brakes with new rotors, Hawk pads, and new lines and fluid, and wanted to run either Goodridge or Stoptech steel lines.

Thanks!

*Nevermind man. Realized you're running the WRX setup*

I got my brake lines from rallysportdirect.com. I did some browsing online and they had the lowest price. Stoptech lines were cheaper than Goodridge lines.

IIRC our brakes should be similar to that of a 02-05 WRX.

For reference: (4/2 pot conversion)

Stoptech Stainless Steel Brake Lines Front Subaru STI 2004-2007 / WRX 2006-2007
RSD Part #: STP 950.47004

Stoptech Stainless Steel Brake Lines Rear Subaru WRX 2002-2007
RSD Part #: STP 950.47501

For Christmas I got a GoPro Hero 2 and just last week I got a suction cup mount for it.

With it mounted to my moonroof I was concerned that the rear view mirror would get in the way. But the wide angle looks good and you can see out the windows pretty well.

Here's a quick video: (SPOILER: nothing special, just me cruising home from work)

Looks good! Don't be ashamed of the Gotye mix at the end. Could have left the volume up. For that first shot, how far back was the camera mounted on the glass and what setting was it on?

LOL. It was mounted about 11 inches from the front of the moonroof or right above the back half of the armrest. Taken in 11MP. The 1st half of the video is the same distance as that picture. The 2nd half of the video the mount was about 16 inches from the front of the moonroof.

Cool I'll have to try that out. I tried that angle on my 2008 one time but the way I had it angled you could see my whole face in the mirror and it was kinda awkward.

What was the video setting? 5?

Video quality?

It was shot in 720p 30fps. Then encoded in Adobe Premier using H.264 and the Youtube Widescreen SD preset.

I whipped out the GoPro to see if I could replicate your angle. Recorded my drive out to run errands. Unfortunately I had it set to center metering and it was aimed a bit too high so it set exposure to the dark interior instead of the sunny view out the windshield...

Default Huey's 06 FXT Limited

Mine is pointed probably 5 degrees down from horizontal... What I realized was its hard to get the same angle because there's so many variables and adjustments you can make to the mount and the camera.

It's by a company called RAM.

On their website you can build a mount. But retail stores sell kits with a pre-configured setup with are cheaper than building a mount from RAM's website. I got mine on amazon.

Ideally I would have wanted the tallest mount I could find. The kit from amazon has the 4 inch arm, but RAM sells a 6 inch arm and I couldn't find a kit with it. Here's the part # if you want to buy the longer arm separately. - RAM-B-201U-C

With the 4 inch arm it's close to eye level for someone that's 6 feet tall. So I'm pretty happy with the setup and probably won't be needing the longer 6 inch arm.

I also got this:

It's called the X-Grip and it's a universal cell phone holder. I've been using the new Google Maps navigation app with the iPhone a lot while I'm out of town. Since the RAM system uses these universal ball mounts I can swap out the tripod mount for this cell phone mount so I have a windshield mount for when I'm in the car.
