Tint is done!

Added new trailer hitch! Now I can pull my motorcycle.

Towed the bike on a 3500 mile road trip to seattle and back. Forester performed flawlessly

Time for another update!

I decided that I really liked Blue fox's idea on painting the roof rails. You can find his write up here-> Blue Fox Journal 2.0

My only quam was that he used just a satin black. I wanted a more matching look. So I ordered some paint from autmotive touch up.com. They have paint available in rattle cans that are ready to spray. It cost a bit more. I paid I think around 50 bucks for 2 cans of OBP black and 1 can of clear coat. Here is my write up!

So the goal was to black out my oem roof rails from the silver to a matching obsidean black pearl

Covered everything up

Next was to scuff the surface:

Then paint:

Then clear coat:

And the final product!

I am pretty happy with the outcome. The paint is a very close to exact match. I am thinking of actually using this stuff again to paint match my side panels and back panels.

This project took me all day considering I did about 4-6 coats of base then 3-4 coats of gloss

Nice Foz and great start to your member journal, and it's good how you have your future mods all planned out.

Smoked tails and slammage and you'll be full murdered out!

Are you going to leave the grey behind the rear windows or black it out as well?

No tinted tails. I need to try and be as legal as possible. I work closely with law enforcement. However I am going for that blacked out look with out making it illegal.

Kevin- yes I am planning on painting the grey behind the rear windows. Going to probably tackle that after the winter. Ill also do it on the rear hatch and the side mirrors.

I think next up will be the grill mod with fog lights and upgrade all my lighting to LED from diode dynamics.

Good job on the rails, the car looks good. Ever consider 08 sport taillights? 100% legal and will look great.
