excellent ride! Those that live in non smog states are lucky. Keeps going from bad to worse here. I've heard neoprene suspension bushings can be squeaky/noisy.

Thanks! I am definitely in a smog state, but the swap is newer engine into an older chassis. All of the emissions hardware was carried over, catted downpipe, etc. My understanding is that inspection in my state is just plugging in OBD 2 and verifying the state of the emissions hardware and possibly a tailpipe and gas cap check. It should pass all of that.

Price, it's getting cheaper every day, probably. Salvage STi's are still not that common, but the pool of SH Foresters is growing and there are less expensive ones out there with higher mileage. Plan on probably $14k for a salvage impreza, varying quite a bit on condition.
this is reassuring. ultimately I'm gonna do 2010 forester 2.5xt to STi swap and after seeing this vid was pretty discouraged (towards the end he says this swap would run upwards of $40-50k)
