Default Hey guys, new user here

I've been lurking here for a while doing research on my new Subaru Forester 09 spark silver metallic and decided to register since I'm about to take the plunge. We are going to put some money down today so the car can be shipped from out of state. I don't know why they don't have many selections to choose from at the dealer. We decided on spark silver metallic because my fiance wanted a black interior. Personally I wanted the blue one because I've have a silver acura TL already. Anyway...color is still good, I don't mind. Oh and we are getting the 09 xt limited with navi. Hopefully everything goes as planned and we'll have the car by this weekend. We didn't get many more options just the shock security sensor, popular 4a and splash guard.

I wanted sports grill but it's way too much from the dealer, will buy original subaru parts and install myself instead.

I have a couple of questions though. Does anyone have the bluetooth mic and what is so special about this mic since all the blutooth equipment is included on the navi already. Can I just install any mic...What is your thought on that, any recommendation on where to get one...cheaply.

Also I checked the European subaru website, it seem they have rearview camera option. How hard would it be to install any other rearview camera on the subaru original navi? Have anyone tried that. I've read a couple of discussion here, but haven't seen anyone who done it. Does anyone have experience modding the original navi display for other devices?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your upcoming purchase. Your going to like the new Foz. I can't help you with any of your questions, mine is a pretty much a stock LL Bean with a few other options, but I'm sure there are lots of folks on the forum that can. Send pics when you get your car.

GO here: Free Publications > Accessory Installation Guides and then scroll down to the 09 model year. You'll find the install for the backup sensors as well as all other OEM accessories.

Default Congrats

Congrats on you new Forester. I've had the same one (different color) for a few months now.
If there's anyway, save yourself the $1800 and ditch the OEM NAV. See one of my previous posts.

OEM NAV Sucks!

As for the Bluetooth mic I picked mine up from here;

http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_...+KIt&year=2009

And yep it's a rip off but you gotta have it for the Bluetooth to work. Although I think I've read some where here that some one made there own up from parts at Radio Shack. You might have to do some searching.

Good luck with your new Forester. There's a service bulletin on the oil supply pipe for the turbo, might want to have the dealer look at it before you pick it up.

Thanks for rubbing it in dude.

I’m looking at swapping out the factory NAV for the factory 6 disc high end head unit. Or just an aftermarket single DIN head unit. And go back to my portable Garmin.
