I originally registered here a few years ago (2011) looking for help getting a 98 Forester going again after major engine issues - turned out the "mechanic" actually started a fire under the hood and damaged a bunch of the wiring.. We tried for weeks to fix the damages, Ditched the 25D and swapped in a 2.2 - yeah.. never did get it going and finally gave up on it. We did salvage a few parts from it, but the greater majority went to the JY.
Last year we picked up a 2002 Forester L - much better experience with this one, LOL
She is now my daily driver and enjoying it for the most part - took a little getting used to with the shorter wheelbase/taller body than my old 95 Legacy wagon, but overall, pretty happy with it.
Body is in good shape, considering I live in Northern Wisconsin, and the Interior is nearly flawless.
She had about 208K on the clock when we bought her, which mandated a full timing kit right away (PO had not done one recently). That was done along with new tires and have been driving it ever since. Currently at around 230K.
