Bought a new '09 Forester recently. Traded in a Chrysler minivan. Although I have owned Hondas and Toyotas, this is my first Subaru. There will be some things that will take getting used to; even some things I'm not quite happy with. But I'm satisfied I made the right choice.
I have noticed a certain amount of griping from some long-time Forester owners regarding the 2009 redesign. Yes, the new Forester is less distinctive, less quirky, less unique. It no longer occupies a category of one. But I and many other new Forester owners would not have bought it had it not moved up into a class dominated by RAV 4 and CRV, taken them on, and beaten them soundly. This website is a wonderful resource. Already I have learned the correct torque for the oil drain plug, how to break in my new Boxer engine, what kinds of oil filters are favored by experienced users and much more. Thanks from a new member. |

Congrats and welcome!
I downloaded most of the factory service manual for the '09 except the body and electrical sections. Hit me up if you need any other torque specs for parts not in the omitted categories. I would have gotten the whole manual but the effed up way they make you download each little one or two page section as a separate pdf file, and limit you to 50 files per hour its hard to get the whole thing in a weekend unless you stay up all night.
