Default 30 mpg... yes!

I'm starting to like the Forester more and more...

I just computer my fuel mileage since leaving Salt Lake City (I'm in Nebraska right now), and I did 30 mpg, that's cruising at 75 mph with the a/c on at 75 degrees. I'm sure if I did 55 mph with he a/c off I might be able to do 34 or better...

I filled up right before getting on the freeway yesterday and the on board MPG monitor hit 33 for a second - then I hit traffic. I'd like to see what an all freeway pass would do, but I'm just not up for driving that distance for the heck of it.

I'll be curious to see your calculated results of actual miles divided by actual gallons. My experience is that it takes 55 mph driving to get 31. I have done that once.

My former results: (08 X)

MPH......MPG......Gal/Mi......Gal/Mi vs. 60MPH.....MPG vs 60 MPH

60........31.6.... .0316...........1.00 .................... 1.00

65........30.8.... .0325...........1.03 .................... .97

70........29.8.... .0336...........1.06 .................... .94

75........28.4.... .0352...........1.11 .................... .90

80........26.8.... .0373...........1.18 .................... .85

Adc,

I am guessing they are going by the on board readout? Thank you for the listed information. When I keep my 2.5X Sports under 65 I average 29.3-29.8 mpg. I only have 4000 miles on her but I am not far off from your calculations. It is good to see another mileage geek like myself.

Hahahahaha..yea I really am that. I almost never go beyond 20% of throttle position. I do though every few hundred miles allow the rpm's to get ulp to say 5000 by keeping it in 2nd gear. That will prevent a ridge developing in the cylinder from constant low rpm.

Although I have accelerated hard on a couple of occasions. I can truthfully say that in14,000 miles I have yet to 'floor' it. So much for the theory that the 'X' doesn't have enough power (for me) :D
