Default New TMIC install

Just installed a new TurboXS, Forester XT specific, Top-Mount Intercooler. Installation went incredibly smooth, completely bolt-on with perfect fitment. I wrote a whole product review HERE for those who may be interested in one as well.

A few pics:

^^ that's hot. Love your ride in Black. Can't wait to start modding, eh? Yeah, me too.

Very nice. So what turbo are you running and what EM are you using now? What hood scoop splitter and ducting are you running?

TXS TMIC Pros:

Fitment, quality, looks, and performance.

TXS TMIC Cons:

The price: $850 for the TMIC w/ kit minus the BOV/BPV.

I picked up an almost mint condition used '06 STi TMIC (w/ cast ypipe, elbow hose, TB hose, and BPV) for $300. I don't mind bending a few A/C lines to get it to fit to save $550 dollars.

Nice!! Looks great man. I just finished a complete STI conversion last night and the IC swap was the easiest and funnest part to do! Did you have to use any rubber hose to protect the AC line from contact?

Hey thanks all… No contact whatsoever! The fitment was just perfect, didn’t require and bending or further adjustments, strictly bolt-in.

As for price; most people don’t buy direct from the manufacture

Little bit at a time… Obviously I’m not seeing nearly any gains from this particular mod as a larger intercooler and higher pressure supporting BOV doesn’t do anything for a stock TD04/2.5L..

But… they’ll certainly help support some things in the works…

Talking Nice!

I hope to go that route once I can afford to. Stage 2 is fine for now...
Is that one a bar and plate construction? (yea, still a little noobish, I know!) I'd love to go the ebay or STi route, but really prefer something engineered to fit our cars that won't cause any interference or damage. It would make a nice addition to my TXS TBE!

Looks good !

Kinda wish I got a TXS instead of my Perrin, the Perrin is a bit rough looking and quality wise leaves something to be desired.

What are the core measurements? In some of the pics it looks abit narrow front to back.

Hmmm, I’ll have to take some measurements and post back. I was told the core was shortened in the design (front to back) to clear the larger DBW throttle body. The end tank comes right up to the firewall. You know how the FW juts out down low, above the pitchstop? That’s where this IC is at its closest.

What scoop and splitter are you using? what did you have to do to make them fit?

I finally ordered the front lip but it won't be in til tuesday.

Where do you live? Maybe we could meet up and drive it Ripken field together.

I just installed my TXS tmic, it went in smoothly although I had to remove my SPT strut brace to get it in.

Once it was in, it clears the AC lines better than the STI did, and it clears the SPT strut brace better than the STI did (not that there was a problem with that anyway)

After some a/f and timing tweaks it pulls noticeably harder. I was able to add timing in a lot of areas that couldnt take any additional timing, and I was able to lean the fueling down just a TOUCH in many areas as well.
