Default max6spd just went stage 2

Another great day today! Skotchy(Earl), max6spd(Andrew) and sleeprxt(Ken) met up for a really big install day for Andrew.

Goin on was:
Cobb downpipe
SPT turbo heat shield
STi TMIC
Process West Splitter
Cobb AP flash to Stage 2/DP/93 octane map

Here are the pics:

The obligatory before shot!

Andrew's car on the lift.

Out with the old! The DP...not Ken!

Side by side of the stock and Cobb DPs. As you can see the stock DP is fugly, with a capital ugly! It's like a junkyard version of frankenstein. The Cobb DP though...whoa...you really have to see it up close to appreciate the excellent machining and quality build!

In with the new.

Cobb bellmouth securely planted on the turbo.

Process West splitter. Another very nice build.

SPT Heat Shield.

And...the after shot, eveything is in and totally ready to to go!

A few notes on the install:
-Be prepared with either new studs or bolts. Even though Andrew's car only has 5.6K on it, one of the bolts connecting the turbo to the DP had it's threading screwed up and we had to make a trip to ACE. Totally kool because we took Ken's Foz...and that thing flies!
-The heat shield hides the screw hole really well so when you are trying to bolt on the TMIC bracket it could be a pain
-When bolting in the bellmouth to the turbo, tighten in a star formation
-You get a really cool turbo spool sound when you drive with the new DP

Not sure what Andrew's car was like before the install but all I can say is that when we took it out for a test spin when we were done it was FAST. In a very fast way.

Thanks again for the great time Ken and Andrew, you both have great rides!

It was a fun time had by all. :p My neighbor with the modded white WRX came out after you both left and was telling me how you guys are making him think about getting a Forester. Yes we may have converted another to the square box side!

Thanks again for the quick post. See you next weekend when its your turn!

Great pics. Thanks for documenting everything. I was so excited to get the install done, I forgot my camera. Thanks to Ken (sleeperxt) for the help in installing and the expertise and patience in explaining things to me and Earl (Skotcharu). Ken's Foz is neck-snappingly fast. Thanks again guys.

Awesome, looks like a job well done. I currently have a Cobb DP I'm waiting to put on my LGT (waiting on gaskets and cobb heat shield I've ordered). Why tighten the bolts in a star formation? I've heard there is a sequence that is best for the UP, never heard of that with the DP. Glad to hear that the DP lets you hear more turbo noises.

max6spd, how's she feel now? what intake are you running?

sleeperxt explained that the tightening of the bolts in a star formation is similar to tightening the lugnuts on your wheels. Its to evenly distribute the correct pressure when tightening.

She's feeling awesome. I had some spirited spurts back from sleeperxt's place. I'm running a Cobb short ram ntake.

Wow! Congrats! Is that a stock catback or something different? What's your 0-60 time with the Stg 2 setup now if you don't mind me asking... i'm kinda wondering what to expect when i bring my ride up.

Nice work!
How long do you think it will be until you starting thinking vf39/43?

Stage 2 is easily sub 5 second 0-60. With a good protune 4.5 is not uncommon. It really depends on how hard you launch your car. It is tough to avoid bogging but not be hard on the clutch/tranny.

Thanks sea-scooby... i suppose my 4EAT will probably bog it down by a half second at least.

Running the STi axleback with FSXT OEM midpipe. Not sure what my 0-60 time is. Didn't get a chance to test. But I agree with what sea-scobby says above.

I've been looking for a VF39/43 for awhile. Problem is that the ones that come up people are asking ridiculously amount of money.

Yeah, the elbow is close, but sleeperxt got it on nice and tight. It took us awhile, but in the end we prevailed! Too bad the TMIC is from like an 04 STi. It looks so beat and dirty compared to the rest of my engine bay.

Just tell her Garage time= happy husband.

Yeh, the only problem is the garage is at my parents house. So I'm not home when I'm in the garage. I think she would have a better time with it if I was just outside the house.
