Default replacements for the Foz another quirky vehicle?

Well My Foz is getting up there in age and repair costs I think it may be time to put her out of her misery. on the curent budget I have and my requirements I think I have narrowed it down to these quirky vehicles ( i probably will want the vehicle in stick like my foz)

i think a used verion of any of these will work any comments?

Honda fit excellent cargo room for such a small vehicle( need to do the dog test I have a 65-7o ish pound doberman) excellent gas mileage though very small engine and power.

SCION Xb ( personal favorite) Excellent cargo and seat room funky boxy styling ok gas ( but much better than my FXT in real world driving(mpg wise) plus it regular vs premium )

Toyota matrix ( basically the scions mainstream brother 2 engine choices depending on the year dont want awd versions on this though would prefer 2wd

what do you think?

If the only problem is upkeep on the current Forester, then why not get another Forester? An FX Sports of 2007-08 vintage would be nice.

Unless you're done iwth Subaru, that is.

Honda Fit, without question the best of the three you mentioned. I had an 08 Sport manual trans before the Subie. They are NOT underpowered, no matter how many times you read that, drive one and decide for yourself...

I love the forester and I love subaru however I think I wanna go a different route this time. In terms of mpg and the price of maintenance I think I wanna chill right now with the subaru thing

question why did you get rid of it ? Also how does it do in the snow( with all seasons or winter tires) obviously it wouldnt be as good as a forester and I know that but just want to hear your thoughts.

We packed one daughters Honda Fit to the gills and drove it from Seattle to NC, then transfered everything from the Fit into the other daughters '02 Forester. The stuff completely filled up the Forester. Amazing how much stuff you can put into a Fit.

Funny, I test drove an automatic Fit, and thought it was awful. Might have just been the one I drove though? I'm not one for car performance, but after 10 minutes in the thing, I had to get it back to the dealer, it just felt cheap and horribly under powered. And I used to drive a 92 civic! :P

Scion xB. Great package for a low priced 4cyl fwd new car. Can't go wrong with the Camry 4cyl. It's a simple vehicle by 2013 standards, so reliability should be outstanding. It is more vehicle than the Matrix, which is a lot more vehicle than the Fit.

I have found out the matrix and the 2nd gen xb are virtually the same car with different packageing though the matrix you can get a smaller engine. I have heard the only way to buy a fit is in manual or it isnt fun at all lol.

I didn't get "rid" of my Fit, it was destroyed in an accident :( I would still be driving it otherwise. I LOVED that car dearly, put 115K on it in two and a half years of ownership. I modified mine as well, with a cat back exhaust, DC header, Skunk2 coil-overs, etc, etc. I never found the car wanting for power, though I didn't drag race (would have lost anyway) Do NOT get the auto trans, it really does sap all the fun out of driving the thing. With good all season tires I found the Fit exceptional in snow up to the limits of its VERY limited ground clearance.

I like the fit w/ manual gearbox best out of those three choices. The matix may have a bit more interior room but will get worse mileage and its ugly. The scion xb is mediocre in every dept at best.

I always really wanted a matrix, and would have bought one had I not needed the AWD and ground clearance for my cabin build. I think they're fantastic cars, and get great mileage. I think the Kia Soul is a good one as well, as is the hyundai elantra touring.

I'm a big fan of the jeep compass too, I think it gets a bad wrap; the orange/redy bronze ones look great in my books.
