That is impressive man.......
I hit the highway for the first time today.....also 3+ miles of grooved pavement.....everyone made it out to be so bad, I didn't think it was that bad at all,.......at 85mph that wind is NASTY...my neck is still sore (was a long drive) That was only at 5k - redline is approx 14k - eek, top speed must be crazy on this thing!

Yeah. I'm at 6500 at 80. Top speed for the stock FZ6 is ~150. I imagine it should be ~180 for the FZ6

^^^ Where did you find those numbers? Surely 180 is way off, and possibly 150 as well. That bike is limited by aerodynamic drag.
Before I put my bags on, my odometer would hit 150 in no time. Now, with the bags on, it feels like I'm pushing it hard at 130. Those numbers of course don't take into account any speedo error. *Edit* I just thought of something. I've only had one of my bikes on the dyno, the mighty V-max, which was also very limited by drag. Acceleration on that thing was insane!!!! I'd hit 130 before you could say "what gear are you in?" But, once there, the air resistance was so ridiculous that I'd never push it past that, and rarely pushed it that far either. However, when on the dyno, top speed registered 154. What I'm saying is the source of your numbers may have come from a dyno, and not a real world, on the street speed.

I maxed my 03 FZ1 out at 165mph.

Yes, 165mph is stupid fast. It's not hard to get there though. Just make sure you hold on cause the wind does a really good job of sucking you off the bike if you're not careful. I want to add that 165mph is speedo indicated and was probably off by at least 1 or 2 mph

I got 150 from the FZ6 forums, there's a thread there asking. I certainly won't be trying that anytime soon. Naked versions say they hit about 130, the front faired ones reportedly hit 145-155. Now that is indicated, and from my experience the speedo reads about 7% fast.
So, I would guess that it should be ~140 mph. I guessed for the FZ1, I really have no idea. But that extra power should be able to push the bike an additional 25 mph on top? Here's the thread for top speeds...

Some new pics from a ride up Mirror Lake Hwy. These were taken at 10,5xx feet. The road was a ton of fun. Just got some frame sliders, new windscreen and fender eliminator on their way.
I'm finally getting how this thing handles. Very sticky. ![]() ![]()

Thought I would share this excellent article. Anyone who rides sport bikes will appreciate its content.
Being a recently ejected rider, it's something I wish I read before. Quote:

Went out for a ride today, more than 250 miles. All back roads and LOTS of twisted curves. I finally found a great stretch of road that I tested top speed on also. It was completely open, no cars, I even lapped it twice (no cars for 10 minutes!).
Here's some pics. ![]() ![]()
