05 bbs wheels..

newbie here wanted to know if 2005 sti wheels 17x8.. 5X114.3 bolt pattern with a 53 offset will this fit a 2004 forester xt?:icon_confused:

not much of a selection huh? so if i wanted bbs gold, only 04 sti wheels wil fit nothing newer?
There's plenty of selection as you can see in the first few posts of this thread but yeah, if you want STi BBS only '04 will fit. They have maintained a pretty high price for a long time because all the WRX owners want them too.

This might be a dumb question, but for 16" Legacy or Impreza wheels with the +55 offset, if I am running stock tire size, will the wheel not stick out as far, and will it rub? From the first post I understand it that it will rub if I use a tire size that is not the standard size.

You won't rub for the most part with ET55 if you use a 215 (stock) width tire. I have WRX wheels with 215/55 tires and I get very minor rubbing in the back only over large bumps. 225 width you're likely to rub unless you use a spacer.

Yes, 17 inch Enkei Wheels off a 2001 WRX
Were there really 17" wheels as OE back then? I didn't think there were (at least not in the U.S.), but I could be wrong. Regardless, if the wheels fit a WRX they should fit a Forester if you stick with a 215 width tire (the offset could put the tires close to the rear struts). They've always used the same bolt pattern.

If possible to have more info on the 15" rims

Some say, we need to grind calipers, other say they fit no mods..
Some foresters come stock with 15" alloys and some with steelies..
Those forester have different calipers?? I doubt it

Also, going with the impreza calipers/carriers apparently can make you run 15" with grinding is this true?

15" wheels do fit on 98-02 Foresters. Some models had that size stock. Subaru increased the Front brakes size in 03, and those calipers don't clear 15" wheels.

Just a silly question, don't know if it has been asked before. What do you guys do for a spare wheel, when fitting 17 and 18" wheels, or even a slightly higher profile tyre? I tried to fit higher profiles, but cold not get the spare in the wheel well! I also believe that you have to have all the wheels on all the axles the same size, otherwise the differentials and gearbox packs up...

Sea-Scooby - if you are still updating this thread at the top, I think the new (2010 at least) FXT has 17x7's with 225/55's mounted. The one at our new dealership has them unless I was careless in looking.
