Congrats....
I just joined the forum (in the last half hour) and am getting a stripper '09 2.5X if all goes well.
My wife is driving an '07 Civic LX with an automatic, and it has been a great car. Only exception is that the interior matte plastic materials scuff if you look at them hard... She was T-Boned by a Mich state trooper in the Civic, and the right side airbags went off (car did GREAT). It is now in the bump shop with their magical interior touchup guy fixing all the damage the mechanic did to the plastics when replacing the headliner and all the right side air bags....
The ultra-high revving motors can be fun if you have an opportunity to let them run, but are weird and peaky in traffic (I test drove cars like prior si's, Vibe GT's, etc). I'd personally rather have a bit more torque for what I normally do. You do get used to the faraway dash and invisible hood fairly soon--my wife loves the big-digit speedo--and I've noted that I can easily see my speed when I'm backing out of the driveway :)
My "fun" car is a '91 BMW 318is, with a 1.8 liter four, that I've owned since 1994....and I have a full size Ford van as well. The Forester looks to be a great everyday commuter and light bicycle carrier for my purposes...
Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but watch those plastics in the Civic....unless they use different materials in the si...
