Possible you are referring to "Dri-Wash 'n Guard". If so it has been on the market since sometime in the 80s. I tried it on my Mazda truck of of the 80s though always worried about what was happening to the paint as the big thing in Winter & Spring time was simply spray it & use the cloth to wipe it off, but where the grit went I do not know.

Fortunately I sold the 2 wheel drive Mazda for a 4X4 Mazda a few yrs later & never used the above since. I probably have something like four 32 oz containers of the above & four of the pump containers that go with them. Still sitting in my garage. Our m/c shop bought something like eight of the above & still these four left over. Like myself others to wondered were the filth went. Reason no one else bought the said four from us.

Yes my preference is to wash my vehicles like most others do & whatever polish one prefers & uses.
